The computer fan noise really makes me anxious but I've found some peace..
by shutting down all possible svchost.exes
Ok, I know it's me and not the good people at MS who wrote VISTA. One of my wackinesses is I am noise conscious and noises that sound like machine abuse get to me very quickly. When I'm sitting reading and the computer only has the desktop showing I feel like my computer is being taken over by some foreign/alien user as the fan is constantly revving up and down.
I've been searching Task Manager for weeks trying to figure it out, turning off processes here and there and crashing the system. Minutes ago I found the button to show processes of all users'...dang there were 3 svchost.exe processes running that were huge!
I turned them off. The CPU is running cool, and the fan is running steady and quiet, the library no longer sounds like my gas-powered brush-cutter working in the middle of an acre of prickly-ash!
Is computer fan noise an issue for anybody else?
I dunno myself.

1. Thats ridiculous. Insulate the case, and get larger slower fan.

2. I drown mine out with net radio.
I have an HP and whenever something stresses the machine like a virus update or a video, the fan really starts to roar. It's not painful, just annoying.
Net radio takes care of it.

On older desktops and especially laptops, the fan could be loud and annoying.
The newer ones seem to be quiet.

In case you didn't know, sir, the Pilgrim primitive's spent some time in lunatic asylums, including recently.
I'm wondering if she's exaggerating the problem, because those sorts of people have a habit of doing that, getting all upset over pretty trivial things.

I have no doubt that the primitive is overreacting.

Well that answers my question as to who actually bought a copy of Vista.

I wonder if it has occurred to the primitive to open up the case and clean the f'ing fan ? Or replace it. Couldn't cost em more than $20 inc freight.
Oh wait. Who am I talking about again. Fixin' stuff is the gummints job.

Dip it in ice water DUmmie, when it reaches superconductivity temperature the speed is unreal.

My bet is on the cooling fins being full of hair off of this DUmmie's furry costume.

Pet hair, cigarette tar, dirt... the usual things that kill small electric fans. :-)

I rarely notice it on my desktop computer and notice it sometimes on the laptop.

The DUmmy must have an old clunker. I never notice mine, usually because the TV or radio is on at the same time.
