A person is on MSNBC saying the American Dream is dead.
I was told by the mods I was free to re-post this from my locked thread. Seems to lose something in translation when you leave out the fact that "the person" was a wealthy white corporatist who happened to look like every cartoon of a fat old robber baron. Oops, can't say "fat" on DU. No one is offended by the gist of the post, just by the word "fat." Come on, DU. Really?

4. I am fat and I have no problem with your characterization of the cartoon. But there are lots of people here on DU who have a bias against fat people and they are downright mean & nasty when speaking of fat people. They also characterize every fat person as a lazy & slovenly pig-that I resent. Many fat people aren't like that at all!! I'm not offended by any part of the post.

6. I've been fat...my wife thinks I'm fat again
I lost 55 pounds several years back. Since then, I've gained 15 back, due to aging and not working out every day as I used to. Funny how my 195 is now considered "fat" by my wife. But I can't say "fat" on DU without people freaking out. What is wrong with us? Thanks for your post.

7. So would the mod squad allow 'obese' as an adjective?

It's because weight doesn't mean anything. My 200 is probably slimmer than your 180. As you've sat around collecting welfare, your muscles have atrophied and you've gained fat, all while "maintaining" your weight #. Since fat is much less dense than muscle, you've no doubt gained some significant volume around the middle.
Whoa. A lot of "guests" viewing this thread almost immediately as it was posted here.
You know, now I'm greatly concerned about something.
If Pedro Picasso has 21 pounds on franksolich, that means that in a knock-out, drag-out brawl, franksolich is dead meat, even despite his superiority in altitude.
Twenty-one pounds can make a lot of difference; trust me, I know.
Been there, done that.
About the only advantage franksolich would have is his soccer legs and thighs, but that would mean fighting dirty, and franksolich refuses to fight dirty.

Well, I'll bet the Systematic Chaos primitive and the subway cat weren't too pleased.
Pedro Picasso must've been elephantine at 250 pounds. Damn.
I find it hard to believe Pedro has a wife. Is she comatose?

I believe she's in one of the allied medical professions--registered nurse, physical therapist, dental hygienist, something like that.I think she must be in a much more lucrative medical profession.
Since she's not on Skins's island, as with Pedro Picasso's sons, I keep her off this radar.
I think she must be in a much more lucrative medical profession.
They live well in the most expensive area of the country, and they sure as hell don't do it on Pedro's cartooning income.
A child in middle school could churn out blank speech bubbles, and ask no more than a few ITouch downloads in return.

Well what makes one "fat"? is it actually fat under the skin? :lmao:
I would rather be called fat than huge or obese.
I have always been of the thought process that if you didn't like something then change it. If you don't like being noted as fat then lose some weight. :whistling:
