Solyndra execs to take the Fifth
Solyndra's top executives will take the safe route on Friday by invoking their Fifth Amendment rights not to answer questions from a House panel investigating the California solar company's demise.
Attorneys for CEO Brian Harrison and CFO W.G. Stover told the House Energy and Commerce’s Investigations and Oversight Subcommittee in separate letters sent Tuesday that they have advised their clients to decline all lawmaker questions because of the ongoing Justice Department criminal investigation.
"This is not a decision arrived at lightly, but it is a decision dictated by current circumstances," wrote Harrison's attorney, Walter Brown.
"Mr. Stover respects the important role this subcommittee plays in performing its constitutional oversight function in service to the American people," wrote Stover's lawyer, Jan Little. "He looks forward to a time when he can assist the Subcommittee's efforts, and make known his perspective about events at Solyndra. Unfortunately, the current circumstances do not permit it."

2. I would plead the 5th too...
Why expose myself to a political hatchet job by a Republican controlled House?
Not to mention the media sharks circling...sensing blood in the water.
They are more worried about Obama's cronies coming after them and their families. The execs need to be offered immunity from prosecution. If they won't talk, we know the DOiJ will do little to uncover any corruption involved with this company.
-
They're pleading the 5th, because they're protecting their sugar-daddy, Barry the Big-Eared SCOAMF.
In 2010 a credit reporting firm had published a report that their assets were too damned low, their debts were too damned high, and that the company was a fiscal train wreck waiting to happen. At the time the report was published, the US Treasury had only sunk $100 - $150 million into this scam; the other $400 million or so came from Uncle Sugar after the truth was out for anybody with as much as a 5th grader's Google skills.
Any other organization, and there would be a justice department looking to apply racketeering and RICO statutes to this kind of grand scale fraud and bilking of investors. Because it's the SCOAMF's Administration...

3. Its not =great= news for Obama - but this looks worse for the execs than him
This is about the failure of the company...not about making a bad investment.
Was Obama setup with dummy company that was "failed" on purpose to make him look bad...
I think I read Harrison is a R...
Golly, too bad Obama doesn't have a staff of hundreds of employees at an executive agency like the OMB to protect him from such ruses.
-
Let's say Haliburton went under with government loans pushed through by the Bush Administration.
I don't think you would be hearing a lot about "Company faiures" and "bad investments."
And you CERTAINLY wouldn't be saying that company "failed on purpose" to make Bush look bad...hmmmm??
Nah...they'd be pulling the rope out and tying it up in the Rose Garden as fast as they could!
-
We need a Special Counsel. Holder isn't going to do anything about this; zero and he protect each other. This is a major problem, I think, in our current system, where any asshat president can appoint his best buddy to be the fox in the henhouse. I know the senate confirms the AG, but they're a bunch of asshats too. A president can get away with nearly anything. Four years is too long for someone who is out to do deliberate damage.
I want the Solyndra scandal to result in impeachment.
-
But Obama said in a campaign speech that Solyndra was the "source of true economic growth". So why is the government in the venture capital business with my taxpayer dollars? Why does the government get to choose business winners and losers instead of the market getting to decide. Bank bailouts rewarded bad behavior, and then the government loans taxpayer money to a sham company?
FU Obama.
-
I've noticed that the DUmmies have been mostly silent on this issue, other than their talking point that it all started under Bush and the "Repug" congress is holding a witchhunt.
-
**** em. Hunt away, and burn em at the stake. Also, take away Eric Holder's $500,000 lunch.
-
Are you kidding guys, all of us caught up in this as workers would be pleading the 5,6 7,8 amendent.
We would be so panicked about all the money we made that may be taken away, loss of homes, boats, kids college educations and perhaps facing a jail term----- loss of country club membership, YIKES, got to play golf on Public Courses next to just anyone, OH NO.
Yupo Money makes people blind to corruption, theft, graft and down right skull buggery.
Easy to quit a job that pays a low salary when one sees all this, but when the steaks are in the millions, AH what the hell we got the President on our side, if he says we are doing fine then why worry.
As is all ways the beat goes on, the more one is paid the more they will do anything to keep their life style as they justify to them selves why they became crooks of the worse kind. Just following orders Sir.

5. I smell Dick Cheney's shitty ass in this mess...
Yes, Dick Cheney. Because remember, Solyndra was a BUSH administration program to start with. Keep in mind that Bush and Cheney were having problems trying to defend their rapacious good ol' boy oil policies, where they got their cohorts billions of dollars of profits. So they ostensibly looked at Green companies like Solyndra to try to say "Hey, us republican bastards can do Green Energy TOO!," knowing full well they were gonna diss the program when they had a chance. But when they knew Obama was going to win, they (Bush and Cheney) manipulated the finances so that Solyndra thought they were a viable company.
Ironically, Solyndra never had a chance with the Bush Administration, but their executives were conditioned to try to cozy up to the Bush/Cheney/Big Oil. Cheney recognized this, and used his financial demons at Halliburton to dummy up the financials, knowing full well that Obama was going to go full throttle for needed Green Energy initiatives. Bush and Cheney KNEW that with their fake data, the Obama administration would look favorably with Solyndra, enough to push the loan through. The number of meetings that Solyndra initially met with the administration was done because Solyndra was presenting data that the BUSH administration had given them. So basically what happened was this:
1. Bush/Cheney/Rove met with the republican leadership along with the oil cartel to create a plan that would camouflage the financial processes of government involvement from company executives, diverting resources from needed technology improvements to meeting the standards set by Bush Administration energy zombies. This was done knowing that the Bush administration had NEVER INTENDED to ok Solyndra, and was setting them up for a fall.
2. At the same time, the Bush Administration knew that the GOP could lose the presidency to Obama, based upon the fact they could not dummy up the vote process this time around. So they played with the figures to give to the transition team, so that when Obama was inaugurated and they pursued green companies, they saw that Solyndra was one company that would be the cornerstone of the energy policy.
3. So basically, the Bush Administration lied to Solyndra about their financials, and they ALSO lied to Obama about the financial condition about Solyndra.
Ironically, had Solyndra not been contacted for a setup by the Bush administration, they undoubtedly would have actually developed their product so they would have, without question, been feasible as a green energy product. In short, this was a deviously brilliant setup by the GOP, and it will be hard to prove their involvement.
But MAKE NO MISTAKE... Bush and Cheney are 100% responsible for this mess. Eric Holder should be able to ferret out this mess, but until it happens, the GOP is going to try to make a big stink about this. But we know better.
Pure and simple.
This is exactly how cult members view matters that come into conflict with their leader. Any explanation is perfectly reasonable to them except for ones that involve Dear Leader being culpable.

Muahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!! Please explain how Bush and Cheney manipulated the finances of companies they didn't run, lol. PLEASE explain this. Bush's administration DID NOT grant them a taxpayer funded loan guarantee as Obama did.
This jackass know-nothing DUer thinks that the executives at Solyndra were so stupid that they thought the company was viable. How stupid and naive. These execs either knew ALL ALONG they weren't viable without government backing, OR THEY WERE INCOMPETENT AND SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN RUNNING IT FROM THE BEGINNING!

6. I have figured for months that scandals would be used to throw
doubt on the Obama administration. This will probably not be the last. We shall see what happens. The Republicans are making hay out of this -- probably Obama had little if anything to do with it. That's just my intuitive feeling.
Obama had only been in office two months when this was approved according to something I read. If that is true, it may well have been a set-up. Republicans always have some sort of deal like that. Was it David Koresh and the Branch Davidians who were attacked shortly after Clinton took office -- and there was another extremely right-wing guy who was attacked shortly after Clinton took office. Then wasn't Mogadishu another little George Bush I nasty surprise for Clinton.
This sounds like a similar "surprise" for the Obama administration planned to go off with a delayed reaction. I could be wrong, but the deal was approved so soon after Obama got into office.
So Obama rushing through a deal that HIS OMB said "is not ready for primetime" was a set-up by Bush based on doctored books that somehow allowed OBAMA's OMB to predict the exact year and month Solyndra would go bankrupt.
But the deal being "approved" within 2 months of Obama's coronation somehow proves Bush is to blame for a booby trap more than it proves Obama pushed through already rejected deals.
And now we learn the Branch Davidian debacle was a Bush the Elder set-up even though Janet Peno ackowledged she gave the "go: order and Clinton had a history of these events elsewhere, such as Ruby Ridge.

but when the steaks are in the millions
Sounds like Eric Holder's lunch.
Ban the GOP goes back aways. A complete loon, he was banned from the DUmp for being just too crazy. He thinks it would be peachy to line all republicans up against the wall and shoot away. Eradicated from the human race.

As their messiah falls father and farther the DUchebags will get crazier and crazier.
There needs to be a special investigator for this and for Fast & Furious/Gun Walker. 0bama is using his regulatory tyranny to turn the USA into a third world country. A little legal problem or two might take his eye of the ball.

Solyndra has given over 1 million dollars to Republicans and almost $200,000 to McCain, you think they'd be outraged at that? The truth, Solyndra has given over 1 million dollars to Democrats and almost $200,000 to Obama! do you not see your selective faux outrage?

Oh, it gets better: Solyndra lawyers are big democrat donors. (http://dailycaller.com/2011/09/20/solyndra-executives-pleading-the-fifth-on-friday-represented-by-major-democratic-donors/)

Yes, the DUmp is clear - no firing squads. In a recent thread though, DU made its stance clear - mental hospitals and re-education camps for Republicans are A-OK.

Maybe if they hadn't of given all their money to politicians they wouldn't be going bankrupt? Of course, probably not. But still, talk about doing a punch of dumb stuff with money.

Never in my lifetime have I seen a more corrupt administration. Carter was simply incompetent. These guys are NOT good people and have engaged in impeachable crimes. And then trying to coerce a general to change his testimony? And no one seems outraged. I'm sick to death of seeing this country treated with this kind of disregard. They don't even try to hide it anymore. Oh, and "if you love me, pass the bill!" Narcissistic prick! At least Clinton put his to good use.
