2. I cannot believe this. Actually I can.
Media? Really?
500,000 would be worthy of a drudge report...all I've seen is a couple of hundred.

6. What protest?
Hundreds of protesters descend to 'Occupy Wall Street'
By Julianne Pepitone @CNNMoneyTech September 17, 2011: 5:37 PM ET
NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Hundreds of demonstrators took to the streets of Manhattan's financial district on Saturday in a largely peaceful protest aimed at drawing attention to the role powerful financial interests played in wreaking havoc on America's economy.
Modeled on the "Arab Spring" uprisings that swept through Egypt, Tunisia, Syria and other countries this year, Occupy Wall Street is a "leaderless resistance movement" orchestrated through Twitter, Facebook and other social media tools. The Twitter hashtag #OccupyWallStreet lit up Saturday with coordination messages and solidarity tweets. (See CNNMoney's coverage in photos and tweets.)
Activist magazine Adbusters spearheaded the event, putting the call out two months ago for participants in a Sept. 17 demonstration in lower Manhattan. Protestors arranged to meet and discuss their goals at the iconic Wall Street Bull statue at noon, as well as at a "people's assembly" at One Chase Manhattan Plaza at 3 p.m.
"The NYPD is aware of various protests and we have planned accordingly," Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne told CNN late Friday.
Early Saturday morning, police barricaded off Wall Street, erecting barriers around the bull statute that protestors had planned to make their rallying point. Protestors instead took to the surrounding streets, blocking traffic. By 2 p.m., nearly two dozen uniformed police officers surrounded the bull, while others worked to disperse the crowd.
Found a pic thread. I don't see how it could more than 2K, tops, and that's counting plainclothes cops, security guards, and gawkers.

Throughout the afternoon hundreds of demonstrators gathered in parks and plazas in Lower Manhattan. They milled, held teach-ins, engaged in discussion and debate and in some instances embarked on marches through the streets and sidewalks, brandishing signs with messages like “Democracy Not Corporatization†or “Revoke Corporate Personhood.â€
Organizers said the rally was meant to be diverse, and not all of the participants were on the left. Followers of the right-wing figure Lyndon LaRouche formed a choir near Bowling Green and sang “The Star Spangled Banner†and “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.†Nearby, anarchists holding a red and black flag carried knapsacks, sleeping bags and tents.
At one point in the early afternoon, dozens of protesters marched in a circle around the famous bronze sculpture of a bull on lower Broadway. Among them was Dave Woessner, 31, a student at the Harvard Divinity School, who had traveled to New York with several fellow students.
“When you idealize financial markets as salvific you embrace the idea that profit is all that matters,†he said. “You start thinking only as yourself.â€
A few minutes later about 15 people briefly sat down on a sidewalk on Broadway, leaning against a metal barricade that blocked access to Wall Street. For a moment things grew tense as officers converged and a police chief shoved a newspaper photographer from behind.

I am sure the mayor is beyond pissed he spent money on those barricades and police OT for this pathetic showing.
Hey, lurkers . . .
Care to explain this headline?
The rest of the article is here:

A quick scan of the PMSNBC site shows that they don't have it!
It's not on FNC, either.
"Hundreds," primitive. Hundreds. Not "500,000."
"Hundreds." :lmao: :rotf: :lmao: :rotf: :lmao: :rotf:
BTW, are these kooks going to be camping out on Wall Street? it's supposed to go down to 40 degrees tonight.

Sparse ‘Day of Rage’

Only about 300 protesters, mostly college kids and aging hippies, showed up near the Stock Exchange for yesterday’s anti-Wall Street rally -- far fewer than the 20,000 that organizers of the so-called global “Day of Rage†had predicted.
Police barricades were put up to protect both the exchange and the iconic “Charging Bull†statue on Broadway. The barriers hardly needed.
Police said two members of the anemic crowd -- which carried signs declaring “Wall Street is our Street†-- were arrested after they tried to enter a Bank of America office at Broadway and Liberty streets wearing masks.
OMG! only 300 showed up! this is the entire article, 3 small paragraphs! :lmao:

Well, too bad for the primitives.
But they outnumber us anyway, remember.....
It's pretty lame when your entire "Days of Rage" riot will fit inside a single drunk tank.
#USDayofRage #TakeWallStreet #OccupyWallStreet #OurWallStreet please use new hashtag #WHYWONTYOULOVEMEDADDY
#USDayofRage #TakeWallStreet #OccupyWallStreet #OurWallStreet how many times must a hashtag be changed, before it's mocked half to death?
#TakeWallStreet The Wall Street ate my homework. Then it called me names and rearranged my furniture!
#TakeWallStreet I'm sick of corrupt bankers running the US! Let's turn it over to 500 incoherent NYU film majors in Guy Fawkes masks!

2. And empty gesture.
No amount of publicity will make this white middle class hippie camp-out into anything of consequence. This is a feel good field trip not a revolution.

14. You are right of course
except that it did NOT turn out to start with thousands...
And that is the point.
MOVEMENTS have their own logic.
Time will tell about this one.
Oh and in the very early days of WI, here, people poopoed that one too.
As I said, rhetorical It seems to me... take it or leave it, don't matter, that some people are actually committed to diminishing anything that the people do. I get it why by the way.
Imajika (1000+ posts) Sat Sep-17-11 11:24 PMYou saw that too?

10. Yup..
These protesters look like well fed college kids complete with all manner of capitalist luxuries out for a good time. They won't be able to take over Wall Street, and this sort of street theater will have no impact on anything.

The NY Post reported 300, and can low numbers like this really be called an invasion? On a weekend, there will be hundreds of tourists wandering around on Wall Street.

11. There was no blocked twitter account
Trending topics on twitter follow hashtags not individual accounts. They screwed themselves by switching tags all day based on rumors of Twitter blocking.
They diluted the effect with two many tags, all of the following worked
#takewallstreet #occupywallstreet #usdor #sep17
On a weekend, there will be hundreds of tourists wandering around on Wall Street.
They're probably being included in the estimates.
Tons of tourists on the weekends!I saw one of the tour bus operators was charging $16 bucks to oogle the hipster doofuses, kind of what I'd expect a safari tour of skin's island to look like, only less stinky.
They actually might have gotten 20,000, if they'd just called it "Days of Rave."

I think this needs to be mocked mercilessly. Decrying capitalism, then tweeting about it from their iPhones and iPads is the epitome of hypocrisy. To rub salt in the wound, I think Rush should send them a few cases of TwoIfByTea.

More million man math like the President is using with his jobs destruction bill where being a millionaire now starts at an annual salary of $200,000. Math is like kryptonite for a liberal.Anyone who has averaged $50K since the early 90s has made a million dollars, and is insufficiently taxed.
Here's one of Saturday's "yutes" you'll need a gallon of eye bleach for:
