2. SHITTY race, SHITTY issues, SHITTY candidates, just SHITTY. The people are the losers.
Edited on Wed Sep-14-11 12:11 AM by RBInMaine
The Dem was appointed instead of having a primary, and he was an incredibly shitty candidate. It was a narrow, old, small, angry, electorate where Jewish ethnic issues were exploited. So for a while the district gets a TeaPuke who will toe the line for Ryan and the
Medicare-Haters. Good for them. How sadly shitty.

38. Epic fail there. People aren't as afraid of Teapubs as we were hoping.
Anybody who thinks the Democrats can stay our current course and get a different result better wake up.
Sorry but it's true. What does this party stand for? I mean really and truly stand for? I freaking do not know so how can we expect voters in a swing district to know?

4. I'm mad at Weiner all over again. His ego lost us a voice.
The Republicans had lots of money and propaganda in this race and used their favorite weapon, FEAR. Always a winner.

66. Hmm... why would a single district have most of the state's Orthodox Jews?
No I don't think they get to vote their interests. Their lobby is illegitimate because it has been unfairly created specifically to empower them.

Thanks for the reporting, Mark1, and welcome.
From the DUmp, look at this:
What an asshole.
Uh, aren't there congressional districts in blue states gerrymandered to have a certain racial majority?
I am Jewish, and life a few blocks form the district. There was more to this election than is being reported.
Many of the jews in this district are Orthodox Jews, who are by nature very conservative, and only vote democrat because 90% of this city is democrat, and they "go with the flow" in order to stay connected to the broader political culture in the city. The democratic candidate was a Orthodox Jew, who nevertheless voted for gay marriage in the new york state legislature, where he was a member. His vote was one of the deciding votes that caused the law to pass. This did not go over well with the Orthodox Jewish population in NYC. The republican candidate was a Conservative Irish Catholic, who was against gay marriage.
Except for Ed Koch, the former mayor of NYC, endorsing the republican, I did not see many advertisements mentioning Israel as a reason to vote republican. But I saw many ads in predominately jewish media in the days before the election urging jews to vote republican over the gay marriage issue. Those ads were signed by many rabbis.

That ignorant Dummie doesn't know that there are more Orthodox Jews in NYC than in any city in the world outside Israel, and there are more Orthodox Jews in brooklyn than in any other borough in NYC. And most of those people are NOT in NY9!
We will worry about our own lobbies, you worry about your own candidate getting blown out in 2012.

What? Now the Joooooooooooooooos shouldn't be allowed to vote. Is that what you're saying, Hitler?
Apparently, sir, that's exactly what the primitives are saying.

93. Who the **** are you
to tell people what their interests should be? Your statement about the lobby is absolutley moronic. What about the NRA, AARP? Think they should be disolved because they were specifically created to empower the pro-gun, pro-senior people? Or it just the Jews that are the devils here? Are you even thinking out what you're saying?

I think it's a little surprising that the offending post is still there. It is quite bigotted. "Jews don't get to vote." Wow. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you, a democrat. A liberal one.
That little exchange is going to be EXACTLY how it turns out with blacks when they start voting Republican. Democrats true colors come out when they start losing. Look at how they treat Palin and Bachmann, ALL because they're women conservatives. They're slave-masters, and when one of their special interest groups start venturing off the plantation, they grab the whips.

The White House said Wednesday it does not view the defeat as a referendum on the president.
White House spokesman Jay Carney says special elections are unique and don't reveal much about the outcome of future regularly scheduled votes.
"You can make those predictions and look foolish in 14 months or not," Carney said. "I'm simply saying we do not view them that way."

When did they elect Martin Luther King?
Ed Koch was interviewed on Joe Crummey's radio show and he said this, when Koch endorsed Turner he got a call from Weprin asking him why he didn't get Koch's endorsement, and Koch said a message has to be sent to Obama, your winning won't send that message but Turner winning would.
So did Koch endorse Weiner in the last election?

It must be a little scary for moonbats when they remember that both algore and John F'n won 80% of the Jewish vote.Yep. Damn straight those are important concentrations of votes.
Most places, the Jewish vote is too small to matter, but in places like New York and Florida it's important.
I'd still be shocked if the Kenyan failed to carry New York. Very few Americans live south of Albany.
True story; my one attempt to post at the DUmp got me banned in just two posts because I disagreed with the notion that Bush ordered Nick Berg beheaded for a political boost. I posted nothing that would indicate I wasn't a primitive other than that I didn't believe their conspiracy of the day. It was therefor a banable offense to disagree with the hateful notion (and only a few days after the Berg tragedy) that Bush essentially murdered Nick Berg. I might even still have the thread saved on my old computer.
What? Now the Joooooooooooooooos shouldn't be allowed to vote. Is that what you're saying, Hitler?I think it is simply that the "Joooooooooooooooos" shouldn't be allowed to vote anything but liberals.
Yep. Damn straight those are important concentrations of votes.Well, that sucks.

Did anyone hear the Rush Morning Update on the radio today? He reported that Henry Waxman said that the Jews in NY-9 voted for the R because they "wanted to protect their wealth." :o
Hello, first post here.
I really want to know why the D's lost this seat. How big is the Jewish vote here I wonder. I don't see exactly what Obama could have done to cause such a big swing in Jewish support. His very pro-Isreal. Too much so I think. So what's up? Sounds to me like a lot of spin from both sides here.

Has that not always been the position of all Administrations for decades. Most foreign countries agree also including all the EU. Why are Jewish voters suddenly so annoyed with Obama. It makes no sence to me.

No, in previous talks, US politicians have mentioned the 1967 borders as the goal of the Palestinians, but no American has ever specifically told Israel that they support Israel returning to those borders. It is possible that the EU supports those borders, but I don't really care what the EU supports, especially now when it appears to be disintegrating.
Also, a poster from the are said that Homosexual Marriage was another major factor in where the votes of the Orthodox Jewish community went.
Ok I see, thanks for explaining the conservative view here. Yes I know about the Gay Marriage issue but Obama does not support gay marriage.
But anything and everything gay short of that is OK....he'll use gay marriage as a carrot later.
that's true, he would have went on to legalize gay marriage through the back door (pardon the pun) much like he did with the Amnesty I'm sure but this election result in NY means he is finished. There is now no longer a snowballs chance in hell he will win re-election.
We are not just looking at the end of Obama but potentially the end of the Democratic party itself, that's how important this election result is.I wouldn't go that far, but it sure would be nice to wave goodbye to the Obamas on January 1, 2013.
lol, seriously though how is he going to win swing states with a dead economy when his party can't even win a district they have held for nearly a century. If I were a Dem, I would be tearing my hair out also and calling for his immediate resignation.

He's thrown Israel under the bus, and do you think I really care what the EU feels about Israel? And actually it's most voters and racial and Religious groups who are mad at Obama.
You may not care what the EU thinks but I guarantee you the Israelis do. The EU is not something to be laughed at, in the next few months it is going to become The United States Of Europe.
PS. I'm a EFL teacher in Seoul, but I'm American. There are thousands of us Obama refugees here you know. Why are you looking up my ISP anyway. Ok, I admit it Yeah I'm a mole from DU. lol look at me molein around on CC  :panic:  :rotf:

The Germans are having a little fit, they think too much and it's been a long time since so much was expected of them but they will do the right thing in the end and issue Eurobonds to save Europe. Eurobonds mean complete economic integration there is simply no getting around it. The same forces that led America to become a federal union are now occuring in Europe.
Europe is extremely powerful; militarily, diplomatically, culturally and above all economically. Israels national security and economic future is highly dependent on Europe much more so than the US and one day Israel will seek to join the EU.

The odds are far greater that the EU explodes in the next six months.

How much cash aid does Europe give Israel each year? ...and how does it compare to the US aid given.
How much of NATO's budget comes from the US?
