In this thread, the DUmbasses all huddle around the fire to dream about where they would go if they could escape from the greatest country on earth.
All they're doing is getting a jump on the countless threads that will explode in the DUmp during the second half of 2012, as it becomes clear we'll have a bunch of repugs running the country again. Surprisingly, the cosmopolitan nutcase nadin hasn't shown up to give the DUmpmonkeys the benefit of her experience.

If I happened to with a $100 mil lottery I probably would consider moving to a more socialist country such as Norway, Sweden or Switzerland but then again if I won a 100 mil I would probably die from the shock first...

I am one generation too far removed for both Norway and Germany, and Norway, at least, is very expensive for anyone who is living on an American income.

I could live comfortably in Japan, but they don't necessarily want older people.

I was beginning to think this DUmmy wasn't a total moron, until that last sentence.
No gaijin can be really comfortable or accepted in Japan.
The place just doesn't work that way.
And costwise, at current exchange rates Japan has to be among the most expensive places on earth.

I guess. There are tens of thousands of retirees in Lake Chapala, Mexico where you get health care for like $150/year or something. Puerto Vallarta is also good and the biggest resort town. It's kind of isolated by a long coastal road.

Especially if the local narco gangs know you've got lots of money.

Living in the former Soviet Union is hard to compare. Moscow is supposed to be the most expensive city in the world by some standards, but outside of there, most of the people are quite poor. The average worker's wage in Ukraine when I lived there was $200/month. That doesn't buy very much, which explains the dearth of places to go out to eat.

Doctor visits are $25. Doctors actually spend 45 minutes to an hour with you. They make house calls too. No one goes without healthcare. You can be on the National Health plan for $54 a month. Dental cleaning $40. Rent $300-$500 a month (OR LESS...can be more, if you want to spend more). Electric bills $30. No heat or AC needed. Cable $40-50 a month. Food....DIRT CHEAP. All the fruits and veggies you could eat for a week $25-40. Taxi....$2.50 to anywhere in the city. Bus ...25 cents...12 cents for senior citizens. You don't need a car either. Their transportation system is amazing.

You can easily live on a fraction of what you pay here. It's doable in other countries. It's NOT doable here. You would be better off leaving if it's at all possible. Are you a senior? Do you get SS? Do you work via the internet? Do you have a job you could do in another country? Do you have any savings to get you there and an income while there...until you can draw SS if you aren't a senior citizen yet? Also, if you have a friend or family member who could share expenses...that would be even better! EASILY DOABLE if you can share expenses with someone else.

Lets see here now...DUmmie wins $100 mil lottery...he takes the lump sum settlement...gets $60 mil...fed tax takes about half of that...he now has $30 mil ...according to what state he lives in they get their share...lets say he now has $25 mil left ...now judge won't let him declare bankruptcy...he has to pay off his mortgage/car/student loans and credit cards...he's still in pretty good shape... his old drug dealer hears about his windfall and demands payment of an old drug debt... Dummie refuses to pay...drug dealer shoots and kills DUmmie...family throws a big wake and furneral...blows what's left of the lottery money ...bums a ride to the welfare/foodstamp office the next morning....they're back to square one.

Liberals would be sent one-way plane tickets to their chosen destination and would sign a contract stating that they will not re-enter the United States, nor vote in any future elections, nor file for any Unearned Income Tax Credits (and a few other provisos).  Violation of the agreement would result in refunding the price of the ticket at current ticket prices.

The charity just needs a good name...  something like the Clean Up America Foundation or something.

...if you moved there now it would only cost a fraction of your current cost of living which means you would have that much more money for your son's education.

However, I must ask: why not take your kid with you? Do they not have colleges in this unnamed paradise of yours? Are those colleges not as good as those in the US?

If so, why not also educate your son for a fraction of the cost.

If not, perhaps there is something unique about the US that allows it to create a society with a higher standard of learning that is worth the added cost. If you knew what that was maybe that value is found in the balance of US society but thos eof you with such shallow thinking seem too easily frustrated to identify that value.

Umm, are these people aware that the Countries they've listed, unlike the US, actually have strict laws regarding immigrants? things such as being qualified to do jobs in the Country that their own Citizens can't fill? these Countries are barely holding on right now as far as social programs go, do they really think these Countries want to take on a burden like this?

too expensive to live there now because of all the expats who have raised the cost of living. We want to be able to move to our chosen spot and it's still 4 years down the road. We watched the cost of living climb in Costa Rica in the last 15-20 years.....because EVERYONE knew about it. That use to be our chosen retirement spot. Now houses/or rent are/is almost as costly as it is here, plus they're not as fond of Americans as they use to be...because we have invaded their beautiful country...not just Americans, but people from all over the world.
We should try and figure it out if for no other reason than to force the DUmmie to find different place to move to.

I was thinking Belize but with the this being a lefty I am leaning more towards Nicaragua.

I was able to visit a good chunk of Europe in my travels in the Navy. It was interesting meeting new people with different cultures, trying the food, visiting historical points of interest, seeing things I had previously only read about in books, etc. But all that wears thin rather quickly. I found very little to recommend it as a permanent place to live. The only exception might be southern Italy, which I enjoyed the most out of all my travels, but the only way I would move there is if I had a pot full of money so I could surround myself with the amenities I enjoy here in the U.S.

You might find a relatively cheap place to live there, but it's going to be some 400 sq. ft. shithole with few windows, a coffin-sized shower, and a stove with two burners, surrounded by piss-smelling alleys. If you think you're going to find a three bedroom ranch style on a couple of acres out in the country, you better bring a half million or so with you, and that's starter level. The standard of living is just lower there, everything seems twenty years behind what we have in the U.S, and a lot of people we rate as living in "poverty" here are better off than than the European middle class.

I love the fact that I can jump in my car, and with our excellent system of highways, travel anywhere I want to go without standing nut-to-butt for hours with a bunch of infrequently-bathed Euroweenies. I love it that most places I go in the U.S I'm usually only a phone call and a few minutes away from top-flight medical facilities with state-of-the-art equipment and first class staff. I love it that at any hour I have access to open grocery stores, restaurants and pharmacies. I love the fact that I can arm myself to protect my family from thugs. I love knowing that, were I to lose my job tomorrow, I could use my brain and my back to come up with something that would put food on the table. I love knowing that if I were to lose everything, there are always opportunities to start over. I love knowing that the Communist Party here is a joke rather than a real, viable party waiting in the wings for their turn, despite a lot of lefties who would love to shove us in that direction. I love living on a land mass that makes it difficult for some asshole to come bltzkrieging through my back yard should he take a notion to. I love that despite all our faults and tribulations we still retain that spirit of independence and individualism that the first people who landed here had. Most of all, I love being where my family is, because I haven't alienated the most important people in my life over something as transient as politics. I'm not going to abandon them for all the "free medical care" on the planet.

What you siad and more. If they hate it here then they are free to leave. I have been to Italywhile i was stationed there up north near venice on a plot of land that was smaller then most parking lots here in the US. Over there you can't own much of anything if your not Italian. And they are on the Euro not the lira like it was when I was there. So forget living cheap. Their TV programing is mostly ours with the sound dubbed in Italian of course . And good luck getting anything done between noon and 6pm because everything but the bars and a few other things shut down and they won't lift a finger to help you during that time. And another thing ,their cops can and will shoot you since they don't have to worry about being so nice as to read you your rights or any of that pesky Bill of Rights stuff. So keep hating the USA and go move there I'm sure they have plenty of jail space waiting.
