My bank sent me the new rules. More poor tax.
I have a "free checking account" at SunTrust. They offered it and I signed up a few years ago when I had a car loan there. I haven't had much money in that time, so the account gets relatively little activity. It's the second one.
So they will convert my free checking to "Everyday Checking" which means a $7 monthly fee (in lieu of maintaining a $500 balance) plus another $5 in any month where I use my debit card. So it could cost me $244 in fees to use this account. x(
I think there is more to come.

Him and Obama had the same math teacher....and if it hadn't been for the janitor, all three would have failed the course.

As bad as I hate to do it I have to come to the defense of this particular boar hog tit. He/she/it could possibly, in a round about way, be correct.
With the way that the unicorn keeper and his fellow Jackass Party members are destroying the economy the boar hog tit could be figuring in the resulting inflation.
LOL. I'm just yanking your chain. He/she/it is just a standard member of DUnceland and meets the required IQ.

Remember to thank Fwank-Dodd for that DUches.
How many republican votes did in yet another "We have to pass it to know what is in it, it's a CRISIS!!!!!!" bill?

3. Honestly, I think this is an unintended consequence.
Of the Durbin amendment.
"Free" checking will cease to exist, as well as rewards programs and gas rebates.
The banks were using the debit card charges to provide free services and the Durbin amendment gutted that.
So now we, the consumer, have to pay more for our banking services to save them, the retailers, a few pennies per transaction.
Thanks Dick.

He may be right, did you remember to carry the bum?
Which brings up an interesting question: How long before bums will be able to handle debit card transactions? "Padron me sir, swipe your debit card for a cup of coffee?"

26. That is BoA's last "free" account
It allows for unlimited check writing and unlimited ATM use but if you need to talk with a teller, there is a charge whether it is deposit or withdrawal (they want both done via ATM). This includes someone depositing funds in your account. The charge for that last I saw was around $8. For someone who owes you money to stop by the branch and attempt to deposit on your behalf.
Its nuts.
On the unemployment - can't he contact the state to have the money automatically credited to a debit card? That way he can move the money from the card to an account via the ATM without any fees. May be something to look into in the interim as most (if not all) states offer that option.
I have an account with BofA and never been charged with a teller fee. The interest on the account (as well as our money market/savings account) does suck ass though.

Bank of America is going to end approximately 30,000 jobs.

DUmmies and math, economics, engineering, hard science...it's like giving a bunch of two-year-olds a mound of broken glass for a playground.

I recently opened a B of A account and they do charge these fees...if it's an online only account. It's really a screwed up system but I think it will work for me and the way I bank. No teller service, no fees.

These are the same people that think raising taxes creates jobs and that one hot summer PROVES global warming. I'm no longer surprised at the depth of human stupidity.

Most likely factoring in the NSF fees he will accumulate while waiting for his "job" to deposit the pay check on the first of each month.

Nothing. 1 + 1 = POTATO. 12 X 12 = RUTEBEGA.

36. where's the other $100 come from
$7 + $5 = 12 * 12 months = $144.
A type I suppose, I could just as easily get $255 on my first try.
I think it is sorta funny to have twenty replies and 50 views without anyone checking the maths.
Well, you are on DU. BTW, is that the new plural of math?

Uh oh...DUmmies have been spying on us. Now you know they wouldn't have caught that math error if they hadn't been sooping here. :-)

It is the plural of math in English, but I've been noticing it slipping into American more and more recently.

The excuse is almost as bad as the original math.

37. That's pretty good.
And I used to be a math teacher.
I started with $84, and when I added the $60, I carried the one twice.
Always check your work, students. :+

There are certain formulas, equations, additions, multiplications, etc., that are just instant. 12*12=144 being one of them. Then again, maybe that's why you "used" to be a math teacher, you dumbass.

This is what happens when you get English majors teaching math in public schools.
