North Carolina Woman Accused of Killing Disabled Stepdaughter to be Arraigned in Court

A North Carolina woman accused of killing her disabled stepdaughter is scheduled to be arraigned in court on Monday.

Elisa Baker is charged with second-degree murder and obstruction of justice in the death of Zahra Baker, the 10-year-old Australian girl who had a prosthetic leg and hearing aids because of her fight with bone cancer.

Baker, 43, will be arraigned Monday on those charges.

From the news around here, it seems the child's father wants to go back to Australia. I am not sure I believe that he knew nothing of what was going on in their home

Elisa Baker pleaded guilty to second degree murder in Catawba County Superior Court on Thursday, nearly a year after her stepdaughter, Zahra Baker, was reported missing from her home in the western North Carolina town of Hickory. The 43-year-old woman also pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice, and to charges unrelated to the child.

Parts of Zahra's remains were found in several sites in Catawba and Caldwell counties shortly after her reported disappearance last fall. The case captivated the attention of communities here and in Australia, where the child was originally from. Her father, Adam Baker, had moved to the United States to marry Elisa after the two met online.

What that poor child went through in her life for it to end like it did. 2nd degree murder not good enough for this woman.

I hear Osama bin Laden is interested in Elisa Baker. That woman is one scary person! Reminds me of Gertrude Baniszewski.

I heard on the radio today that she got 15 to 18 years for 2nd degree murder. :argh:

so one innocent human loses everything and this whore loses a few years?  DOESN'T.MAKE.SENSE.
