Six months have passed since the massive earthquake and tsunami hit the island of Japan, on March 11. Tens of thousands of people lost family, friends, homes and businesses. Volunteers from all over the world have teamed up with the Japanese people in recovery efforts, and the debris is slowly disappearing. Click through the gallery to see progress since the disaster.

I heard today about Japanese senior citizens offering to work at the reactor to spare younger people the effects of the radiation.
