Red State America is all about fear and DEATH.
Country music is whiny and negative. I refuse to have anything to do with it.

Talk radio is hate radio, these rednecks are whipped into a state of fear and anger. The blacks and the browns are taking EVERYTHING away from them including their jobs. Everything is somebody else's fault.

In church, they sit there and put up with an ignorant preacher telling them they are EEEVILLLLL and SINNERS and they are going to HELL or else......no self-esteem there. I have too much self-esteem to put up with a Christian minister and their message of original sin. It drove me nuts, so I left. They just want to scare people and take their money so they can live high on the hog and feel holy and righteous.

I have neighbors with six foot tall torture devices in their front yards to show their "faith". Bullshit. It's a primitive syncretic (nothing original in it) death cult.

They live fueled by hatred of Obama, hatred of blacks, hatred of those lazy Messcans who are takin' their jobs (which one is it)???

I hate it here.

It's pretty clear this DUmbass has never heard talk radio, nor has he ever been inside a church. Otherwise he's an authority.
He also borrowed nutcase nadin's thesaurus to look up a word he still doesn't understand.

3. You know the fear of 911 and it's[sic] effectiveness
Is indeed inversely proportional to how deep you are in red country. Noticed that myself when I stayed in Cleveland for a month.
We get two ignorant nadinisms for the price of one!
After her customary misuse of "it's", nutcase nadin confuses "inversely" with "directly".
But "inversely" sounds so much more intellectual, don't you think?
Of course, she unwittingly almost gets it right, since Cleveland is the furthest thing from "red country".
In fact, nutcase nadin's crappy little condo beside that roaring freeway in San Diego is in much "redder" country than Cuyahoga County.

DUmmy libnumberDaBone decides to expand on nutcase nadin's ignorance of Ohio:

9. Ya.. Cleveland is in Love with Gov Kasich.. and his giant yard sale...
Gov Kasich (Koch Teabag Soldier) is selling off all the prisons, the State-run liquor stores, the water systems, the schools, the hospitals, the Toll Roads... all this to his Corporate Buddies and all for 10 Cents on the dollar.

People in Ohio will wake up broke and living in a cardboard box.

Uh, DUmmy, your jug-eared muslim won Cuyahoga County, which includes Cleveland and its civilized suburbs, with 70% of the vote.
In fact, there were something like 80 precincts where he carried 99+% of the vote.

Gov. Kasich won 36% of the Cuyahoga County vote in 2010.

6. Life can be tough in a red state, especially if
you live in a particularly RW area. I suggest you save some money and leave the place you're in -- that's what I'm trying to do, although the town I live in isn't so bad compared to many places in the South. You don't have to go far; there are liberal enclaves spread out all over the country. I've lived in some real shitholes, and I know how depressing it is to be stuck in a place like that. I wish you the best of luck in getting out of there.

Poor DUmmies. In any nice neighborhood, most of your neighbors will be repukes. In solid blue areas, you'll hear gunfire at night.

8. Mega churches and Country are pure filth.
Two venues (three if one ads[sic] in right wing hate radio) that spread hate and despair.

Country music is whiny and negative. I refuse to have anything to do with it. Indeed.
After 9/11, country became even more nauseating than it already was. From 2005 on wards[sic] there has been a constant theme in the genre which
pines to go back to the "good ole days". This theme has become constant since the Whitehouse[sic] received it's[sic] first dark skinned[sic] occupant.

Here's a link to the current Billboard Country Top Ten. If you find negativity there you're looking pretty damn hard my friend.

26. I did not say they are all the same. You are misinterpreting my words.
The people in the big cities are generally more tolerant. I'm just talking about where I live in East Shitholia.

There are a few people here that are interested in music and books. There is a book club that meets once a month nearby. But I have been to book club meetings where they talk about Christianity because they are obsessed with it. One woman said she told her niece not to say "*******" because "that was hurting God".
A man said "Christianity has something special in it". Former English professor.
I did not go back to any meetings for a year because of that and explained why to the woman who organizes it in an email. I told her I thought that was a stupid statement (about hurting God) and that I thought blasphemy was a victimless crime.

If they want to talk about how great they think Christianity is, they can do that at church.

I'm feeling that the sanity level up there is upping into the 4-5% range.  The truly insane are making a small group a bit uncomfortable.

I fully expect this small percentage to be purged like the 'business hour' and '0bama' purges.

Cindie, my wife remarked back in the day that she could do a PhD. dissertation using the DUmp to prove the existence of various mental diseases.

Also, nadin must be a Ferrari enthusiast.  She fears the Porsche 911.

This single post speaks volumes.

The entire OP was so bitter, I don't know how she can stand to be in her own skin.  Can you just imagine her in real life?  Someone to avoid like the plague.  They're all eternally grateful that she quit the bookclub.  Perhaps it was a prayer granted.

I hope she goes around being the world's biggest bitch, and also loudly proclaiming "I'm a PROGRESSIVE!"   People will turn to conservatism in droves.

Translation:  Morality is subjective and there is no right or wrong and I refuse to feel guilty for the committment-free sex life I have, even if I leave a trail of aborted fetuses from here to Messico.  It drove me nuts hearing about all the things I knew I was doing wrong, so to stop reminding myself of how evil I was, I left the church.  I'm also a typical liberal, tight with my own money and free with others, so the tithing messages especially pissed me off, so now I have to insult others' religion to vent my repressed anger and guilt.

I guess rap and death metal are okay, though.  Kill yourself, a cop, or a white person, screw around with lots of women, etc., always make for good, wholesome lyrics.  And if you think the theme of country music has changed only since King Hussein took office, then you don't know jack shit about country music.

What a dolt.

OK.  I had been out to my mom's.  I wore my pink Palin Power! t-shirt (this was after the lipstick on a pig comment, "read my lips" was on the back).  Hours later, I forgot I had it on, and stopped at a Kroger in a very blue neighborhood.  I only needed one item, got it, and went to the self check-out.  Three people behind me in line were in my *space*.  I glanced back and saw that a woman had one finger pointing at my shirt, and one over my head.  When I turned back around she shouted "who's gonna take this bitch out?"  Luckily, all I heard were some rumblings.  I don't intimidate easily, despite my petite stature, but this time I was.

Quick Comparison between the Country top ten and the billboard top ten

Country:

1) Barefoot Blue Jean Night (Teenage Summer memories)
2) Remind Me (Rekindling the first love intensity with somebody you love)
3)Take a Back Road (Song about wanting a simpler life, preferable with his girl next to him)
4) You and Tequila (Okay, this one is a bit of a downer, about being a relationship that isn't good for him)
5)Made in America (Wonderful song about real, down to earth, Americans)
6)Long Hot Summer (Love song)
7)Am I the Only One (Song about wanting to go out and have fun)
8)Just Fishin' (A father's song to his daughter.  Bittersweet because she is growing up)
9)Here for a Good time (Song about not complaining about what we don't have)
10) God Gave me You (Romantic Song)

Billboard

1)Someone like You (Girl stuck on her married ex boyfriend)
2)Moves like Jagger (Catchy song, I don't quite get what it is about. Possibly hooking up)
3) Pumped up Kicks (Shooting people with a gun)
4) Party Rock Anthem (Hooking up at a Party)
5)Super Bass (Describing a guy she likes (fyi, he deals Coke)
6)You and I (Going back to an old flame)
7)Lighters (Eminen song, decent message but full of profanity)
8)You make me Feel (Romantic type song)
9)Give me Everything (Hooking up, because we might not get tomorrow)
10) Last Friday Night (Let's get drunk and go crazy)

Let's see, which music option is more positive...

(Don't get me wrong, I listen to pop all the time and I like several of the songs on that list.  However, it bugs me when people dismiss country out of hand, because I'm a country girl at heart.  Still working on getting to "Red State Hell," current plan should get me there by either January or August)

Dear Manifestor_of_Life...that's a pretty interesting moniker you've got there considering the seething contempt and condescension of your tone. As half my family is Mexican your stereotype is way off base (in other words you're a ****ing liar). But I understand you folks are so insecure that you need to have conservatives and Christians fit your template. Without identity politics that puts everyone in neat little boxes you'd have to think for yourself and get to know people on an individual basis. However, I know how you feel, I pretty much live in blue state hell, though I'm certainly not miserable. Since identity politics isn't part of my life I have friends from all walks of life and all political persuasions: gay, straight, "brown", "black" (those are your terms and since you have a hard time seeing beyond color I figured I'd better use them), Christian, Atheist, pro choice, and I don't have a clue. I don't know anyone whose taken anyone else's job, though most of my friends & family have great jobs they got by earning them.

As far as talk radio, I understand you're experience with talk radio was Air America and they're all as bitter and angry as you are so of course you'd think all talk radio is hate filled. The rest of your concept comes from Media Matters who have a problem with context and, on more than one occasion, outright lied. Since you all huddle in groups thinking the same thoughts you'd have an extremely difficult time making an adult, individual decision to listen for yourself for a week so you can see if you're assumptions are true.

If you're attending a church that tells you you're evil all the time, I'd look for a different church because I've never been to one that tells it's members they're evil every week. While we are all sinners (those like yourself who sit in judgement of others as well) the church I'm a member of always has a message of hope. Jesus sacrificed himself and we are saved by grace because of a loving God.

As far as self esteem goes, self esteem not EARNED is meaningless. Charles Manson is loaded with self esteem, as was Ted Bundy (well probably most serial killers). Watch gang members (these don't have to be brown or black people in spite of your prejudice), they strut around like kings of their little fiefdom. Look closely at rich Democrats like Nancy Pelosi or John Kerry (who married his money). Their self esteem has made them arrogant and selfish. Truly, what has George Soros done for you? He buys influence through "foundations". They talk a good game but if they truly believed the tenants they constantly preach, they wouldn't be living "high on the hog" because they'd be handing out money to those who are less fortunate than themselves. Look how many of them fight the IRS and cheat on their taxes. Warren Buffet, while owing tax money, frets about his poor secretary who pays more taxes than he does, but evidently doesn't pay her enough to rise above her tax burden.

Again, if you are attending a church where the preachers take your money and keep it for themselves then you need to find another church. My church spends money on many things salaries, of course (just because it's a calling they still need to feed their families), staff, Sunday School materials, and a variety of other things you find in most churches. We also give for our youth group to go on a mission to an area where they need help building a school or some other such project, to missionaries, the Salvation Army, food for our food cupboard to help needy families in our community, etc.

I have neighbors with six foot tall torture devices in their front yards to show their "faith". Bullshit. It's a primitive syncretic (nothing original in it) death cult.

You know, even if you don't believe the Bible is the living word of God, it's still an incredible piece of literature full of symbolism, pathos and passion, the wide range of thoughts and emotions that are part of the human condition. It's filled with the ordinary lives of ordinary people, some who rose to great challenges and others who lived more like you and I. It's got lessons for life that are helpful even if you don't believe. Sure a cross was used for torture back when Jesus lived but the promise is in the risen Christ, so it's also a symbol of sacrifice and forgiveness and REAL hope (and change through redemption). Of course if you're so incapable of acting like an adult and are offended  by a mere symbol in your neighbor's yard you could always build a fence tall enough that you don't have to look at it.

They live fueled by hatred of Obama, hatred of blacks, hatred of those lazy Messcans who are takin' their jobs (which one is it)???

In a way, I feel sorry for you because your prejudice causes you to live with such anger and hate in your heart that you're incapable of seeing people as individuals. Southerners, Christians, even minorities who you supposedly care about have certain traits, lifestyles, and assumed values. You can't see that, just as you hated Bush, we aren't fond of 0bama's policies and the harm they've caused our country and the rest of the world, even. We're capable of looking past his color, to treat him like the educated grown man that he is and hold him responsible for his actions. You think he must be both coddled and put on a pedestal because he happens to have dark skin.

I hate it here.

Given you're negative outlook on life you'd probably hate it anywhere. But perhaps if you work on your negative attitudes and your prejudices you'd be a happier person.
