If we could, should we create an atmosphere on Mars... ...so that we could inhabit that planet?
I've heard of theories that say it's possible to do that. And since Mars appears to be a dead planet at this time why would it be wrong?
If we could create an atmoshere around Uranus, should we?

25. I don't see how it's possible to **** up a dead world
It already is bone-dry desert, freezing cold, and pummeled by hard radiation every day.
We could drop every ounce of hot nuclear waste we have on a big pile there and probably improve the situation by creating a warm spot for bacteria to huddle around.Even a half-assed attempt at adding atmosphere would still make it suitable for bacterial and invertebrate life, which is better than nothing.
What would you feed them? Triage milk? :lmao:

34. Does it matter what year it was produced?
Somebody made that face. And unless you are crazy enough to think that mankind somehow snuck up there, the only explanation is an intelligent civilization on Mars.
Ever read War Of The Worlds?
Where were the aliens from again? Oh, right...
Zappa hasn't bothered to check photos from MRO, has he?
DUmbass.

12. right....
as if the aliens who have the earth quarantined would ever let THAT happen.

About that face on Mars....he was a half brother to the man in the moon.... another one Obama's many relatives.
ETA: To go where no man has gone before......Where's that? In the corner of the living room?

Rumor has it that there is an intelligent civilization in California too, but I'm not buying it.

There were elements of one there, but BEG and her husband moved to Texas . . . :-)

Milady, you and your husband leaving California and heading to the great state of Texas was the first thing I thought of, when the intelligent civilization being in California was first postulated . . . :blowkiss:

36. Why bother?
When the sun explodes, it's going to get both planets anyway.
Bake
Wrong, DUmbass.
It just expands and expels material, creating a red giant, and a planetary nebula.

37. Yes we should inhabit as many planets as we can
The more planets humans have colonized, the more our species survivability increases. If earth were hit by a giant comet right now, all of humanity would be extinguished because right now we have all our eggs in one basket. I also support creating giant space traveling biospheres that can position themselves around the sun and adjust their position when necessary to avoid meteors and collect solar energy.
:mental:
But..but...but, do you support creating an atmosphere around Uranus?
-
Oh, that Biosphere technology is just a few years out. We just need to keep investing in green energy :-)
-
This is completely stupid. As if Obama and the eco-wacktovists will let us mess with the pristine wilderness of Mars or any other planet.
-
There is no bottom to the crazy well known as liberalism.
-
Hell we can't do anything on earth because of the enviro wackos, so what makes them think we could pollute Mars with our humanity?
:whatever:

It's the usual liberal mentality of put it anywhere, "Just not in my backyard".

Damn. When I read this thread title, I thought coach had finally taken one for the team.

Zappaman is one of the chief tormentors of the Troofers in their 9/11 forum. When he makes a crazy conspiracy statement like that it's usually tongue-in-cheek. In that post he was mocking some other DUmbass who proclaimed we were being quarantined by aliens.
He and SDuderstadt had a pretty good tag team going over there until SD got the granite cookie.
-
Quarantined? Just think how loudly these DUmmies will be screaming when the productive head to Mars and promptly tell the government what it can go do with itself.
-
zappaman's a regular in the Dungeon - he seems to believe every single nutcase conspiracy theory out there...no prizes for guessing what headgear he wears when posting.

I'm always slightly amazed at how many conspiracy theories there are out there, and by just how bizarre some of them are.

If Chris_ hadn't pwned the internet, things would be sooo much better.

I was trying to find the thread for you, sir--it's here somewhere--but I can't remember anything of its title.
Anyway, that was a few months ago; it was pretty low-key, and so probably many missed it.

I think it would be great if liberals had their own planet.

"Where no man has gone before"...
When I hear that it conjures up images of Janet Napolitano

Understandable mistake. They both look like Chaz Bono.

Ever since the stem cell debate, liberals love to challenge conservatives, "Why can't you support science?"
The hypocrisy comes when you examine liberal voting records: they always vote against anything in NASA.
Obama just killed the space program this year. No more shuttles. Now he can spend more buying votes.
The truth is: a liberal will not support any science unless it justifies abortion.

Boy did they spread some lies about that. Bush just stopped the spending of federal funds on embryonic stem cell research. There were at that time 4 other lines of stem cell research that was unaffected. Private funds/companies could still do embryonic stem cell research.
If it doesn't kill potential babies then it must not be science, huh DUmmies.

Doh! :thatsright: My bad... Sorry but they all look the same to me, hard to tell them apart.

Well, ya, that too. :-)
Anybody seen Franksolich, today?

There seems to be reason to think that if Earth were as tectonically dead as Mars, it'd also be as biologically dead. Life may well be a whole lot more fussy about where it takes root than the space dream crowd believes.

From what I've been told, those plates rubbing together is what keeps the earths core moltant and therefore a magnetic field around it which in turn protects all life from harmful radiation caused by and from the sun....but what do I know. The biggest thing I ever had much time to really study was how to make living so I could take care of me and mine..... :-) Only DUmmies and professors on the government dime really have time to worry about such things in depth...be that depth ever so shallow.

I bet he still rejects Paley's Watchmaker argument for the existence of God, however.
