Solution to some of your problems
The moderation has become too heavy. It is restrictive of art and leads yall into making personal decisions that we as grown ups should be left to work through. As it is now, certain factions weigh upon you to toe-a-line and bend-to-their-will.
Indeed, your personal decisions should not even matter anymore. Moderators' personal likes and dislikes should be factored out of decisions and just the basic rules is all that should be applied.
Let it be. It will be fine and you may enjoy your work more if you just remove yourself from making decisions that should, in all fairness, be democratically decided.
Peace.
Sounds like the primitive wants the primitives to run Skins's island.

1. To a certain extent, I agree with you.
We will be moving in that direction when we move into our new software later this year.
Until then, we're just doing the best we can to make the current system hold together. (I should add that moderators' likes and dislikes are actually a lot less of an issue than many people here believe. They try very hard to be fair, even when they find posts distasteful -- something that happens many times a day.)

And the monkeys should get together and decide if there should be water in the moat around Monkey Island.

What I find ominous about that is this:
We will be moving in that direction when we move into our new software later this year.
The minute my fellow alum Skins, Lord Marblehead EarlG, and the elusive enigmatic Elad loosen their iron grip on Skins's island, nothing but comedic catastrophe can possibly ensue.

While Skimmer and Marblehead have been working on their new DUmp software, Apple invented the iPhone and Microsoft developed three generations of their operating system. Somehow I don't believe there's gonna be a new DUmp dawning anytime soon.

Maybe threads or posters will get memory holed based on the number of recs/unrecs received.

Agreed. I think it was 2-3 years ago that Skammmer said that Mods would become obsolete in 6 months. Instead, they added even more.

Microsoft and Apple don't make money out of promises for the future only out of selling actual products.
The promise of a new magic shiny DUmp has been good through several fund-drives and provided an answer to over half the question in A.T.A. for ages.

Uhhh, like every post? Every word written at DU is an affront to logic, math, and reason.
