Well, this is kind of interesting: VT guv asks 2nd homeowners to let flood victims stay in their homes.

MORETOWN, Vt. -- Vermont's governor is asking anyone who owns a second home in the state to let displaced Irene flood victims use it temporarily.
Citing preliminary assessments that show about 700 homes were damaged or destroyed in the Aug. 28 flood, Gov. Peter Shumlin says he hopes second homeowners will step up to fill the need for temporary housing.
He says assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency won't go all the way to getting most people who lost everything to flooding situated in their own housing.
He made the comments Tuesday in Moretown, flanked by a couple whose mobile home was destroyed.

Yeah, they did this with an entire cruise ship in Mobile Bay after Katrina. There were crimes all over the ship and they had to do extensive cleaning for 6 months after the leeches left. They didn't care about the shape of the ship or keeping it up anymore than they care about a rental property or section 8 housing project.
Hell no. If I knew them, knew their character, and were friends with them, I'd do it. To do what this idiot is suggesting, I.e. loan it out to some complete stranger? He's out of his mind.

That cruise ship was exactly what I was thinking of when I read this. And here my buddies just camped out in tents on their own property. :thatsright:

If those vacation homes are owned by donks, they will never do it. IIRC Biden gave $200 to charity in 2009.
Now if the governor mandates that only republican houses are to be used the leftists will be 100% behind it.

Well, I doubt the displaced people in Vermont are capable of the kind of behavior that's routine for the barbaric savages of New Orleans.
But anyone who loans a home to a stranger is asking for a grasswire-type deadbeat.

And who knows what kind of looney New York-style squatter laws exist in Vermont, perhaps differing by county? And Jukin, it would not surprise me at all if someone at the DUmp demanded the Republican-Only homes be commissioned for this purpose. Atman, for instance, would be enthusiastically crowing for it.

Dandi, I'm not sure Obama actually cares about any color of people, he panders to the Blacks but he doesn't seem to have any particular use for them either, vs. Whites or Asians. He's basically about himself and the Democrat Party, and not much else.

IMHO that's close. 0 doesn't care for any particular color of person but he does have a visceral hate toward older white people. He has waged a very visible war on them for almost three years.

wouldnt the loss of all these homes drive up demand for homes? this should then increase home values. which should maybe lure some of the banks who have foreclosed homes and the double-home owners to put their homes up for sale? in a free market, home sales should be benefiting the mass destruction from momma nature.
somewhat related side note: during all these natural disasters, dont a majority of homeowners have insurance? are the insurance companies screwing them out of their due compensation?

When we went in to sign papers for this house 10 years ago, they tried to talk us into a 0% down loan, telling us it would be so much easier for us to furnish the house with new things and have money to spend on other things we wanted to do. They couldn't believe we were going to "waste" our money by putting 20% down since "nobody else is doing that now." They tried every argument they could come up with for over an hour till we finally told them we needed to leave, we had another appointment. Once the papers were signed they actually said "you're smart to be doing it this way."
We're on our 3rd house. Not once did the bank ask us to hold back any of our down payment for furniture. Maybe at the DUmmyland bank.
