They're going after Hoffa's remarks because they're terrified of people fighting back

There are more of us than them.

The ruling elites' biggest fear is that we realize that, and act accordingly.

Hence their media wind-up dolls dutifully disparaging Hoffa's remarks -- part of a pattern, you'll note, having to do with any "remarks," like Alan Grayson's, etc., that might stir people up, get them to "see," bind them in collective action against their fiduciary masters, et al.

It's no accident. Because what if somebody else picks up on Hoffa's remarks, and what if that kind of anti-GOP rhetoric becomes commonplace, in spite of their ownership of the airwaves?

Could be a kind of trouble they hadn't anticipated. And they don't like that.

Hey DUmmy you want to see some terrorized people? just mention, Rick Perry, Michelle Bachmann, Sarah Palin, or any other conservative at DU.

You idiots go on and on about how dangerous it is when conservatives use rhetoric, yet when your guys do the same thing you say they are inciting violence, you just can't stand the fact that your own talking points are being used against you.

The other thing is if a KKK member was talking about lynching people, most people would not think they are speaking metaphorically, same goes when a union thug talks about taking people out, people tend to think that there is some violence behind the words. Sarah Palin has never shot anyone, so when she says to "target" people, reasonable decent folks won't think she means go to their house and shoot them, when a union thug says take someone out, there is the thought that maybe he or his goons might show up and break someone's kneecaps. In other words when your organization is known for violence, when you use metaphors people might be concerned.

I have the feeling we are very near the crossing of that point. Wisconsin showed them that people will fight back as well. The fight on SB5 is the same thing. THose are still peaceful. What really scares them is that people will conclude that there is little more than pikes... that truly scares them.

We are going to get there at the pace we are going.

that ought to work. Don't let them shout you down.

We don't want him to shut up, the more he talks the more support you will lose. He will scare off decent folks.

Your president is a bully, and he cries when anyone fights back against his bullshit.

21. In THIS case...probably. But their constant "need" for apologies from Democrats is generally an

issue of control & public perception, particularly because the Republicans surely know they deserve anything the Democrats have thrown at them. The Democrats don't play their game of lies & perception; they've only had to speak the truth. So why apologize when the Republicans earned it?

Democrats and truth in the same sentence.  :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

In these *more of us* instances, I truly believe they are talking in code.  You see, 9% of the labor force are union workers + 19% of voting Americans are liberals = 100% more likely to engage in violence.

It's easy to convince yourself that you're in the majority when you spend all of your time at a place where other opinions are not allowed.

I don't worry about myself if there is fighting.  But, I would hate to see it happen.

It's so pointless, and it seems to affect the people who can least absorb it.  I was in Detroit in the 60s, during the 'race' riots.  It didn't help a single thing and the areas most damaged never recovered.  One would hardly call the city proper a mecca of tolerance and good will between the races, would they?

That's what bothered me about Hoffa, Jr's remarks the most (a close second was the impotent stupidity of them).  IMO, he was giving desperate people a scapegoat and inciting to violence.  Great.  Detroit can't deal with more of that.  Besides, who will bear the brunt of the frustrated rage?  Other poor and desperate people.  That will do the opposite of bringing manufacturing, or any new, jobs to the area.  Not that they have reason to go there now, anyway.

Afraid?  No.  Just hate to see more damage done to people and the places where they are trying to live a life.

21. True, I received the email also and would not have

characterized his words that way.

He is correct in pointing out that Rep. Giffords had expressed concerns about the rhetoric directed at Democrats by Palin et al and as a result of imagery, such as the 'crosshairs' map.

It's true that the shooter cannot be said to have been influenced by that particular map. But that doesn't excuse Palin at all.

And she is still attempting to defend the use of the vitriol that we KNOW instigated others to go after Democrats.

It is shameful that she cannot simply make a statement now saying that in light of the fact that so many Democrats, including Giffords, were threatened as a result of the climate of violence created by the right, that she will no longer engage in it. There are better ways to get your message across.

They just can't do that. They are bullies and authoritarians and they have for so long been taught to attack 'liberals' as the enemies of this country that they would be lost if they could not continue to do so.

Their ideas are bad. They only way they can sell them is by convincing people that Democrats are evil, so evil that they are worth killing.

15. Giffords' previous statements on the issue...

Remind me very much of Nicole Brown Simpson's journals and photos showing the spousal abuse she endured. She said if she turned up dead, OJ did it. Giffords clearly felt stalked... and this guy attended more than this one event.

As Queen of the TeaBaggers, Palin's mouth utters vile crap that incites. There's no question about that, none at all.

That said, we really don't know one way or the other... we don't know what was in that guy's head. No one does.

THAT said, I don't blame Grayson for trying to use this as an example. The violent speak crap needs to stop.

What liberals are saying isn't this guy heard this stuff and that's why he did it. They are saying look what happened. Look at the language being used in political rhetoric. Shouldn't we examine ourselves and ask were we doing the right thing. Creating an atmosphere in which violence seems to be ok within the political sphere is something pundits and politicians can control, crazy people is much harder. (although they could improve mental health care in this country or gun control, but that's a side issue)

50. Maybe they are not directly implicated...

..but obviously this man had a grudge against Giffords for reasons we don't know yet. It could be nothing more than the fact that he was angry because her letter to him misspelled his name. Or maybe the right-wing crap he heard has been richocheting around in his head for a long time and finally reached critical mass on Saturday.

Such is the mystery of mental illness.

Only "right-wing" words incite violence...the left wing is never to blame.   ::)
