Obama: I’m Done Working with Congress
Seth Mandel | @SethAMandel 09.02.2011 - 12:30 PM

Pundits decrying the level of rancor between the Obama White House and Congress should hold onto their hats–it’s about to get worse, if the New York Times is right about the president’s planned jobs speech to a Joint Session of Congress.

Most of the story is filled with the standard tsk-tsking of those obstructionist Republicans, and in fact is more blatant in this regard than usual. But buried late in the article is a window into the two-part strategy the president will deploy at the speech: blame his captive audience, then announce he will be enacting policies that don’t require congressional approval. On the first, he will propose legislation the White House admits Congress won’t pass:

That sets up an opportunity, as Democrats see it, to saddle Republicans with the blame for a weak economy.

“The president wants to work with Republicans and Democrats to create jobs and grow the economy,” said Dan Pfeiffer, the White House communications director. “If nothing happens, it will be because Republicans in Congress made a conscious decision to do nothing. And that is a choice that will have tremendous consequences for the country.”

Mr. Obama also will propose added spending that Republicans are even more certain to oppose.

So Obama has scheduled a Joint Session of Congress to propose two kinds of plans: spending the Republicans oppose, and spending the Republicans really, really oppose. But wait, there’s a third:

That dumb ****er just doesn't get it.

This approach isn't going to win him any seats in Congress, the districts and States that are already deep blue may eat it up but it won't help him anywhere else and he already has them locked up.  The stench of economic failure is something that ALWAYS sticks to the President.  Nobody gives a rat's ass about who was Speaker or Senate Majority Leader under Hoover, but everyone remembers Hoover (Justly or not) for the Depression.

IOW, we just saw what his "speech" Thursday is going to be all about:

--Raw meat for the libtard base.
--Campaign speech without having to pay for the air time.
--Giving the Republicans in Congress a "YFG" speech.

Haven't we seen this before?  Didnt the Boy King attack the Supremes in a previous joint session of congress?

I suppose this is what you get (a community organizer, thug) when you study the Constitution as a document of negative liberties.

Problem is, it's not just him.  It's the mentality of his entire administration.  They think bullying and Chicago machine thug tactics are the way to get things done.  Maybe in a way it is, but damn if they don't do it in such an over the top fashion that it even leaves a bad taste in the mouths of their own party.

If he does something similar to the conservatives, I hope some of them get up and walk out.

I wonder if he will mention he will be utilizing his new "army" made up of union thugs ready to march and take the "son of bitches out" as a means to accomplish his new jobs plan....

The problem with Barry Soetoro is Barry Soetoro.
His point of view seems to be when he says "work with me, meet me half way" that he is already standing at the halfway point and so it is the other person who must do all the walking.
He doesn't give a flying squirrel for anyone else's point of view and sees himself as the pinnacle of political genius and everyone else as inferiors who must be corrected and brought around to support his grandeur.

If I had to find the next person in all of humanity who best resembles Barry Soetoro I would have to say without hesitation that person is Charles Manson.

And they've been all too eager to be his thug army up to this point.

Now I hear you'll have to be dealing with another SoCal grocery strike.  Amazing how they're so damned eager to shoot themselves in the foot.  The union screwed them over by keeping them on strike for six months and ending up with NONE of the concessions they wanted, and that was in 2003-04, when the economy was MUCH better.  Think how a prolonged strike is going to work for these ass-clowns this time around.

They'll have those jobs filled with replacements by the time the union announces, "STR...."

What is there at a grocery store that requires unionization?  Too much cart pusher vs. cashier drama?  Milk jugs too heavy?  Trucks don't unload themselves?

Job descriptions, that's all. Can't do anything in someone else's job description.

Oh Lord please let me live to see January 2013 when the new republican president in front of a super majority republican legislative body says, "We won. Get over it."

Sorry, but you're not going to live to hear that.  This is because the president in January 2013 will have far more class and respect for the office of the President and for the United States to say something as crass as that.

The Republicans really need to start getting their message out and telling the American people how Obamacare and regulations have been killing jobs. No idea why they're not out there screaming that.

with the advent of self checkout stations at my local Ralphs, checkout clerks have pretty much become non-essential equipment.

The Wal Mart grocery store here has at least six self-checkout machines which are great until something breaks or you need approval (beer and cigarettes).  Good luck finding anyone around to help.

The hell you say. I thought that was the express lane for shoplifters.

Obama:  I'm done WORKING

Although how someone can quit something he never started is beyond my feeble mental capacity for logical analysis.

God, what a ****ing waste of oxygen this man child is. :bird:

Because, and I hate to say this, but the average American doesn't care, and to start hammering the message 14 months out will eventually dull out the senses as well as cost far more money than the RNC needs to spend.

Better to keep their powder dry for now.  Let the primary process play out, then focus on the general.  This time next year, however, expect them to be hammering those very points home, and HARD.

OK, that makes sense.
