On this Labor Day...
"A wise and frugal government which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government."
— Thomas Jefferson
I am looking for a good quote on history and education by the way... but this one today, is a good one
Sounds like "small government" to me.
-
Somehow I think they will twist that quote into support for unions or some such nonsense.
When in reality it pretty much goes against liberalism.

That's how I viewed it. But on Skins Island, up is down, so you're probably right.

Yeah that. What Jefferson meant by "Labor," and what Nads means by "Labor," are two entirely different things.

How long before the DUmpmonkeys spot that?
GoNads made a bgi, big, boo-boo.
Thread worth watchin.

Based on previous events she will just arrogantly tell them that they don't know what they're talking about and keep insisting that she is correct.

True. In other words, Google it.
Gotcha, bud. You're right. :cheersmate:

"A wise and frugal government" automatically insinuates that it is small. You cannot have a large gov't that's frugal by its very definition.

You would be correct if the "frugal" in question is from the Latin; however, nadin knows that Jefferson was brilliant beyond his years and based HIS frugal on the Twikardi language from a small planet in the Alpha Centuri system.
The "frugal" based on the Twikardi word "Frugg-L" means "vast, cumbersome, over-reaching, and over-spending."
Nadin just knows this stuff. Most people don't because them public schools ain't learnin' folks like they s'posed to.
-
You mean the Google didn't explain to Nadin what frugal meant?
-
That is one of those posts that doesn't lend itself to easy spin in order to make it fit their template, so the hive just ignores it until it goes away.

Of course, and remember that this is the same person who has claimed Adam Smith as a socialist...

The Constitution is written in "Olde English" so therefore it doesn't mean what it means as originally written in "Olde English".[DU/mode/circular wisdom]

It amazes me that liberals incessantly quote Jefferson, claiming that he was a "liberal" (and not the classical liberal type). Just goes to show you they can read a fine quote and still be shy the IQ points necessary to understand it.
-
No comments from the primitives. They weren't going to touch that quote; goes against everything they believe gov't should be.

They see modern-day liberalism as the inheritor of classical liberalism, rather than its (almost complete) inversion. Of course, they can only do this by looking at the label rather than the policies which flowed from it.

Greatest mole ever?
NAw, just a hypocritical dolt.

Because of the way the photo is cropped you can't see, but he's actually lugging a case of canned milk through a Costco parking lot.
