Another self-pity thread and she's actually counting one job as three, and seems to think employment is a zero-sum game :o:

I apologize to the person whose job I took last month
After over a year of unemployment I finally got a job last month, substitute teaching. Technically, according to the way the BLS measures employment, I got three jobs, since I'm now subbing in three different rural districts. WooHoo I'm putting my degree to work.
However, since there was no job growth last month, that means that for every "job" I got last month, somebody else lost one. I apologize, losing a job, being unemployed sucks. Been there done that, know all too well.
I would offer to share one of my three jobs with you, but when you closely examine these jobs here is what you will find.
The amount of hours worked currently adds up to about half a work week. Oh, and the pay is shitty, I was getting more working at Kinko's fifteen years ago than I am subbing. Oh, and I don't have any benefits. Not to mention that I'm up and on call every morning, hoping for that call.
Don't get me wrong, I'm getting money flowing in, I'm getting my foot in the teaching door, I'm utilizing the degrees I worked so hard for. But the sad, simple fact is that here I am, a college graduate, and I'm now underemployed.
So, for those three jobs this economy lost, those three jobs that statistically balance out the three jobs I got, what really happened is three people lost their full time jobs, and I got underemployment.
Welcome to our modern economy. Ain't it grand.

I forget. What was the unemployement rate during President' Bush's terms?

I wish some primative would set the rabid mutt straight about subbing.
Unbelievable, teaching degree(?) and whines about getting a teaching job as being under-employed. :banghead:
Mutt, nobody lost a job because you were hired.
You were hired because the district needed a sub. No other reason.
It's a start, work with that, and pity the poor district that hired a whiney little snot like you.

Probably you should be apologizing to the students for being a DUmmie who has no business showing anyone how to clean up after a dog, let alone whatever you do in the classroom.

[spin=liberal]if you take inflation into account, less than obama's[/spin]

I forget. What was the unemployement rate during President' Bush's terms?
It was at depression levels of around 6% when he left office.

Considering that substitute teaching is one of those jobs where you really can't do more than one person's job at a time, the school districts probably have exactly the number of subs on call that they expect to need.

The NEA let someone lose their job? Not likely. You and a dozen of your co-workers are paying to keep their pension treading water as that retired teacher sits at home and draws their full salary for the next thirty years and a defined benefit package.
Enjoy.

I would offer to share one of my three jobs with you, but if you read on you'll see that's just not going to happen. I will, however, make overtones as though I really care.
Fixed.
