Oh my.
I didn't think this was going to happen, with the Magic One in the White House.
One would think George Bush was still there, or something.

I am the latest reluctant recruit.
I am the latest reluctant recruit in the ever growing army of the unemployed. The company I worked for went bust - we found out just today and we had to pack up our personal things and be out before 2pm. Since they went bust - chapter 7 - I got paid but will not get any severence or a COBRA option. I couldn't afford the COBRA anyway so no loss. I worked for a company that was bought out by this one, survived several waves of lay-offs and all together spent 31 years and 51 weeks at this job. I have worked with some wonderful people and will miss them all very much - it will probably really hit me Monday morning when I wake up and don't have to go to work. One thing I'm trying to keep in mind - I'm alive everything else is negotiable - well I hope.
Good luck, but one gets what one votes for.

8. Four years and counting for me...
I have had temp jobs for the past 4 summers, but that's it. My current gig ends in 2 weeks. I have a Masters degree, and my temp job is entry-level. Couldn't afford to go back to school if I wanted to. In another month or so, I won't be able to pay my ****ing mortgage, let alone college tuition.
I, too am sorry to hear that there is yet another being forced into this hellhole.
One gets what one votes for.

9. Media Monitoring.
Advertising and News/PR. Ad agencies used our services to track their competitors or ad trends across TV,Radio,Print,Internet, and Outdoor advertising. It was all very involved. The CEO before this screwed up and got us in a hole that apparently the new guy couldn't reverse. Over the years I did pretty much every job in the production department - shot black and white storyboards, did analog and then digtal tape editing, then digital file transfers. Two years and five months ago I was transfered to a research job. That involved using data bases to find the ads that a client was looking for for whatever purpose.

12. Apply for a job working with the DNC... you would be invaluable.
For the next year someone with your skills would be highly coveted for a campaign team... Just an idea. AND it could be fun making taking it to the Pukes a pd for adventure. I wish you good luck.

I believe the bolded red part IF media monitoring means sitting on your arse watching TV all day.
I'm not so sure about the rest. Remember frank's saying about DUmmies and lies.

9. Media Monitoring.
Oh, ya, major marketable skill ya got there.
Good example why I can't monitor DU, on a regular basis.
Also, why I could never be a good mole.

My only experience with 'media monitoring' was mostly automated. With the exception of the core technical support group and accounting/customer service, it was a small operation. The software did most of the work... the rest was inventory and bookkeeping.

Yeah, it's a little-known fact that there's a desperate shortage of unemployed artsy DUmpmonkeys.
He can name his price.

Sorry to hear that one of the few actually employed DUmmys was laid off. Bet that primitive never considered being laid off during the Bush prosperity years. I bet he was getting lots of overtime and healthy raises under Bush.

Probably; most people were.

Bad news, Johnny, I'm afraid you're too old for the Legion Etrangere. However, with a piece of cardboard, a magic marker, and some fake wounds from a combat lifesaver training kit, perhaps you could have a future as a Mendicant Practitioner.
