On the evac orders...
anybody care to check the calendar? They are fair, they are good... but I wonder how many REALLY POOR people have the money to do so?
The same happened in Katrina. If you are in any of these areas and can help a neighbor who cannot AFFORD IT... please consider doing such...

I am more than willing to take in folks who need to shelter. I have plenty of room, and I'd welcome the company. If the lights go out, at least we'll all be in the dark together.

Maybe because nobody up here knows where the **** the storm is going to pass over yet with 72-96 hours to go. Hell, in the last 24 hours the track has shifted 150-200 miles WEST.

Hey, Coach, my wife and I are hunkering and bunkering. I figure that the divorcee upstairs might have to be taken in by us, as well as the two teachers downstairs. We're (fairly) ready. One of the latest tracks has the eye of the storm (what will be left of it by then) going over the southeastern Adirondacks; another has the center of the storm going right over Albany. A few hours ago, the first one of those two had the center of the storm going right over Karin's neck of the woods, and the second one going right over Raquette Lake, in the center of the Adirondacks. So, Sparky's right--no one really knows where this thing's going. I suppose that Irene's going to go wherever God wants it to.

Bah, this is just Nadine desperately wishing for an east coast Katrina. Ya kow, where the "poor" that "couldn't get out of New Orleans" had a traffic jam at the local Wal-Mart shortly after the eye wall passed. Then she can sit their and tut-tut about how the east coast wasn't properly prepared.
Nadine wants poor people to die for her. That goddess complex she has needs to be popped.

I heard the same jibber jabber about Katrina. It showed up at the end of the month, so all those po' folks didn't have the money to get out.

I've had Allison, Rita and Ike. Only a minor pain in the butt if you have the ability to adapt.
Be reasonably prepared for the area you're in.
BTW,, GoNads, my calander has twelve pages.
