1. OK.

Your monthly donation will be canceled later today.

Thank you for being a DU subscriber.

Ah, my fellow alum Skins, a man of impeccable class.

Even franksolich wouldn't have been able to answer the patrician primitive without getting all bent out of shape and pissed off.  Skins must've read some Amy Vanderbilt or Emily Post in his life some time.

2. Is there anything in place here to identify & respond to the possibility that your moderators could take money "under the table" for ___________________ ?

I know they are volunteers, but is there any effort at all to evaluate their analytic skills and personal approach to what they are doing? Or do you just take whomever you can get? No attempt to at least try to distribute that position across variations in assumptions and biases representative of users?

Performance reviews? Accountability of any kind? Count SOMETHING. It doesn't even have to be fancy or expensive, as long as some attempts are being made to identify what is going on.

This place is VERY skewed right now. I've seen a lot of stuff around here and THIS is NOT good. It isn't that I want opposed positions to go away; it IS that moderation appears pretty questionable right now in it's use of the deletes.

I'm very disappointed and sad for DU.

3. I just posted in the moderator forum to ask them if anyone is getting paid under-the-table.

If so, I'll let you know.

Awesome.  Admirable.

I've got to give Skinner this--he's jerking the patrician primitive's chain, hard, and said primitive has no clue.

Membership dues at DU should, like the progressive social-economic model, be mandatory.

Moreover, the members should be glad to pay their dues/taxes for the public services they receive.

Wanting to keep your taxes because you disagree with the political direction is TAE-baggerism and she should be called out promptly.

Yes, except those members who do not have the money to pay should be exempt, and receive a check funded by the dues of the wealthier members. "From each, according to their abilities, to each according do their needs"

Absolutely.

And if you want to read DU but lack a computer or internet service, they should fund that as well.

From those according to the means to go to 7/11 and the money to buy Cheetos, to those that are too lazy/have no car/have no gas money or near the end of the month.
