To the Conservative belief that the founding fathers were conservative
"As Mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations of justice and liberality."
George Washington, 1st President of the United States of America
SUCK IT, conservatives.
The founding of this country stemmed from a group of people trying to escape the religious and social persecution and repressions of England and the rest of Europe.
The same kind of tyranny that conservatives themselves would force upon the rest of the nation by forcing others to do as they wish, taking away freedom of choice, or attacking other religious groups.

Hey moron, Washington was not talking about liberal as in tax the rich, and have the govt be our nanny, he was talking about liberty and people living free, something that modern liberals know nothing about.
You want to talk about tyranny and taking away freedoms, just look at the progressive agenda, progressives want every liberty we know to be stripped from us and handed over to the govt. The only freedoms you goons care about, is the freedom to bone anyone you want, and the unalienable right to murder the unborn, other than that you want the govt to micromanage every aspect of our lives. You goons would have called Washington a teabagger if he was around today.

4. No, the founders weren't conservative at all
Actually, they were fairly intelligent.
They were intelligent, in fact that is why they drafted a Constitution limiting the scope of the federal govt, sadly you and your ilk have eroded that document bit by bit.

14. To use quotes from the founders to prove liberal or conservative
is intellectually dishonest. The present day terms 'liberal' and 'conservative' have no meaning in relation to late 1700s politics. Anyone familiar with Washington knows that Washington used the term liberal to to mean representative democracy as opposed to the monarchy. That is what was meant by that term in that time period.
Next you will say that to promote the general welfare doesn't mean to hand out govt checks. :-)

Oh, for ****'s face! :thatsright: What ****ing idiots they are. One comment, totally out of context. Then again, why am I surprised?
-
So it was liberals who enslaved Africans and killed Indians in their westward lust for land? OK, got it.
-
If they were liberals DUmmies then can you tell me how the second amendment got into the constitution?
-
Shhhh everyone you will confuse them with facts.

Being a collective right, the second amendment allows the federal gubment to regulate firearms. "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State" /DU
I think that sums up about 90% of their argument.

Two totally different words and at opposite ends of the spectrum, Liberal and liberal.
On another note, the Founding Fathers were all about big government ruling the lives of all citizens. It's what the BOR and Constitution are all basically about.
And, of course 1+1=POTATO.

Uhhh, suck this: "liberal" in those times would be akin to conservative or libertarian today, seeing as how "liberal" means "free". They fought a war over a 2% excise tax, and modern "liberals" (a misnomer) want to tax people at ever-increasing rates while smuggling in tons of pages of unlegislated regulation to boot.
Please, go back to school and get your GED, loser.

^^^What this DUmmy said.
However, in the unicorn land of DU a statement like the OP's doesn't have to be true. They just have to want it to be true and it becomes so.
I'm sure there are a dozen DUmbasses right now clicking on former9thward's profile, examining his posting history, etc., in one of their reflexive mole hunts. :whatever:

To bad they always leave out: ...the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

nah. They just think "People" means the gubmint. That is why they do not have an issue with the police and Feds having automatic weapons but if I want a rifle or pistol that has more than six shots it is the end of the world. :panic: :runaway: :ohnoes:
