People are so confused ...
I was just in the parking lot of my local grocery store and noticed an Americans for Prosperity "Keep Your Hands Off My Health Care" bumper sticker on the car next to me. The gentleman who owned the car was loading his groceries so I asked him if he would mind chatting about his views on health care.
We had a great conversation. It turns out he migrated here within the past two years from Iraq with his wife and child. He is an engineer but is working as a maintenance man. The company he is working for has stopped paying health insurance for employees and although his son is currently on Medicaid he is afraid he may lose it next year - thus the bumper sticker.
Bottom line - he is worried about his family and is passionately for universal health care. Health care like he had back home in Iraq and they have in Canada. He believes the enemy of health care is President Obama and the Democrats. I assured him that he is not the only person I have talked to who wants single payer universal health care and is confused into thinking the Republicans are the way to get it and that the HCR debate and the Medicare/Medicaid/SS conversation has confused most people.
He thanked me for talking with him and I wished him luck. He was a really nice guy. When he becomes a citizen and votes he may sadly still think that Republicans are his friend.
The Democrats have a giant message problem.

Yep I am confused, maybe you DUmmies can clear it up for me.
0bama said if we passed health care reform, our premiums would go down by 3000% and our employers would give us raises on top of that.
So far my premiums have gone up as have most everyone I know, and I didn't get a raise.
So either 0bama is clueless, or he lied his ass off. So which is it?

3. The Democratic Party is TERRIBLE at messaging. Updated at 7:34 PM
It's unbelievable how extraordinarily bad at it they are.
Doesn't help that they lie. They pass a 2000+ page bill that we had to pass to see what was in it, and health care costs shot up.
Then 0bama goes on his bus tour and tells us, just how much better things are with him in charge, meanwhile unemployment is still above 9%. I would hate to see if he was doing a bad job then.

I don't find this surprising in the least.
DUmmies lie, all the time.

Republicans are his friend.
Republicans are your friend, Mr. Iraqi man. If you're seeking the American dream, we'll help you find it. More so than the democrats, who will keep you destitute, dependent, and feeling worthless, like less than a whole man.

This story doesn't add up - most likely a fiction invented in the DUer's warped pea-sized brain.

WTF is the first or second thing we in school or as Adults are told, never sign anything unless you have read it first.
Were we as a nation asleep then this happend, how many of us were in big trouble because we did not read a contract before signing it.
Why did not the Lawyers in this country not jump up and yell about this, why did not the Judges give out a shout??
Me, meek and mild Vesta signed a contract for a pay monthly item. I read the intire contract and signed, what I did not and could not read was the ......................... at the bottom of the page.
A class action suit occurred and I got money back and kept the item. One had to have a microscope to read the ... and they were placed above the signature line.
Nuts, we had big time government folks telling Adults and children it was OK to not read a contract or vote on a Bill without reading it. TRUST us we do this for your own good.
What did I do about all this, not much I could do do as the whole thing was so different from life as I knew it, comes a time when the Government tells you to forsake all the teachings in your life, ignore your education and ---follow me, the Pied Pipper who wants only the best for the kids.
Who do you turn to when that pied piper takes the kids out of town never to be seen again. At least as you knew them.

Not all of were, Vesta. Do you recall right before the healthcare law was signed, the crowds in Washington DC? "Kill the Bill!" they shouted, desperately trying to be heard. We raised all kinds of stink about it, they passed it anyway, assuming it would grow more popular once "we found out what was in it." It has not.
Your point is very well taken about reading things thoroughly before signing. Our congresscreeps need to do the same damn thing.
-
I have never once in 41 years ever had some stanger come up to me and start a conversation with me in a parking lot, in a store, or in a check out line.
But then again I have been told I am kind of mean looking.

Yeah, 60% of the "asleep nation" didn't freaking want the legislation passed.

Hey dumbass? Your message got out just fine. The people of the US put you in power with a supermajority and you passed your siggy health care bill.
Turns out the people really didn't like your message after all and a short two years later summarily TOSSED YOU OUT OF THE HOUSE ON YOUR ASSES!!!
Deal with it dumbass. I bet the dems won't be in power again until the repubs screw it up like they did the last time.

Democrats have a giant message problem = The big lie didn't work out as planned.

DUmmies like to confront fictional people in parking lots of grocery stores. Occasionally this confrontation will take place at a gas station.

The only thing remotely close to that I've had is someone seeing my "My Son is a US Marine" bumper sticker and telling me to thank my son for them. However, this never comes from the compassionate people with the "coexist" and world peace bumper stickers. The lady at the feminist bookstore (local color, very earthy & sweet and they have the most incredible herb & perennial plants in the spring and summer) who I've known for a long time DID tell me she thought 0bama would be a wonderful commander in chief, but that's where it ended.
