Title: Photos from the past

If you haven't figured it out yet I love photos so when I go to one town (about 100km away) I always stop at an antique store there. The store sells a lot of stuff but they also have this giant box of pictures of all ages. I've found pictures from as far back as 1911 and the photos only cost 5 cents each.

Thanks to the low price when I go I take the change out of my car that collects in the ashtray over time (money back from coffee) and buy a bunch. I often don't find out much about the photos, instead choosing the ones I like.

I like these photos because I find a sort of mystery behind them. Where were they taken? Who are the people? When were they taken? What camera was used? Who took them?

I have one photo album just dedicated to these old photos. Call it weird if you like, but I've got some interesting photos :)

Very few of them are scanned into the computer, in fact most everything I have scanned will be in this post. These are not the best ones but I thought you all might enjoy them.

^This is the oldest photo I have at 100 years old, being shot in 1911, the date was on the back.

If you haven't looked already the library of congress has a huge volume of old pictures, searchable by theme or location, stored online. Many of them include the story behind the picture and some have very high res images stored so you can really spot details.  Pretty cool to search your hometown.

Nice, Compaq.  I like looking through old photos I find at the flea markets and antique stores around here, too.  If you have more you are willing to share, do post them up.  I like the hose/cord/wire running out from underneath that Studebaker's hood.  I wonder what the story was on that.   

Last week, I found three old scrapbooks that started in the 1930s, and finished up in the 1950s.  I was tempted to purchase them, but have decided to wait a little longer and see if the price drops.

Those rocks are unique enough that you would think with a little research, you could find where that is.

I want all the cars, one of the houses and one of the girls (pls don't tell MrsEx) in these pictures.
