R-E-S-P-E-C-T....just a little bit.
I have concluded that of all the critical issues facing America, facing candidates, public officials and voters, the most important one is the issue of RESPECT, or, better put, the loss thereof. We simply cannot expect to have a rational discussion of the challenges facing us as a country unless we have respect for eachother. Rick Perry's comments about the President and the Chair of the Federal Reserve drove that point home to me today. His suggestion that Texans would treat the President or the Chair of the Federal Reserve "ugly" is an insult to every Texan.
It is imperative, and a baseline qualification for running for the office of the President, that any candidate presume the patroitism and good intentions his/her opposition and of those serving our government. Anything less is grounds for disqualification. Candidates can question the policies and effectiveness of those in public office but they must always have respect in doing so. Not to do so shows a venal and reckless distain for our form of government, for what the Founding Fathers intended it to be and for every citizen.
When we jettison Respect from our public discourse, violence is not far behind.
Let's work to get the word and its meaning back into the public discourse.

51. Ya been had
The entire propaganda campaign of the last two months has been designed explicitly to produce those misgivings. They are now rampant on even DU, just as support for the war was in January and February 2003.
Ya been snookered.

54. Sweetie, I've been around too long and seen too much to be
"snookered". These are real questions. I don't have to be "snookered" to see a bloodbath in the future presided over by an incomeptent idiot.

Report from the "public square" in New Hampshire today.
In Fitzwilliam, at first a frosty reception. A well-heeled middle aged man told us he did not want to stop the war, he wanted to start another one. Nice! I hope you'll go, sir. A few other really snotty comments and then we attracted a crowd. We heard about peoples' health care problems, money problems, disgust with this lying President.

17. Good example!
I remember the Nixon Administration and Watergate well. When Nixon got elected for a second term, I was crushed and felt that there was no justice in the world...then he screwed up and there were consequences, even for the most powerful man in the world. I feel the same way about our presiding adolescent.

4. George W. Bush is far from an idiot...he knows exactly what he's
doing...which makes it worse. He is a bright, lazy, greedy guy...he has the intellect but does not have the conscience or the discipline to do the right thing. He is a very bright serial killer.

5. What else does he have?
The economy is tanking, Iraq is in chaos, he has no record to run on and he has no plans for the future that he wants people to know about. He is beginning to self-destruct. "Terror" is a word he can pronounce (sort of).

There is NO EXCUSE for this idiot President to have the
Democrats over a barrel. NO EXCUSE. These people (the Dems)are intelligent people, I think. This President is an idiot.

I had the bone spurs which were fine until I put in a suspended ceiling in my house...that shifted everything and pinched the nerves.
I found the pain to be terrible. Laura has probably had a bad time...not including having to endure the boy idiot husband.

DUmmy Raven admonishes everyone to show RESPECT for the president. She's really upset that Rick Perry isn't showing enough RESPECT for members of the Kenyan's administration:http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x1750147Well that is yeoman's work indeed.
DUmmy Raven is an expert on RESPECT, which is something we really need. I just thought I'd check some more, and maybe
get a few more pointers from DUmmy Raven on proper respect for the President. I found lots of them:
{snip}
Yes, I think I'm finally starting to understand this democrat concept of RESPECT.
Thanks, DUmmy Raven! And hey, all due RESPECT, I'm really sorry about that hopeless drunkard son of yours.
There are many amazing things that happen when a Democrat is POTUS...When we have a democrat president, I'm thankful when he fails to fulfill his promises.
Fulfilling Presidential campaign promises is optional.
It's like these idiots wake up on a new planet every day, and nothing they ever said or did before matters now.

Therefore I have no problem calling O an incompetent, lazy and obviously addle minded dolt that has never been anything more then a street thug who thinks that those who have pushed him forward in public life actually believe in him.
We show the Kenyan a lot of respect.I'll save you the trouble, ol' boy.
I, for one, have never called him a jug-eared chimp, so far.
Hey Raven...I'll show respect for your president when he shows respect for my country!

The United States presidential election of 1828 featured a rematch between John Quincy Adams, now incumbent President, and Andrew Jackson, the loser in the 1824 election.
The campaign was marked by an impressive amount of mudslinging. Jackson's marriage came in for attack: when he had married his wife Rachel, the couple had believed that she was divorced; however, the divorce was not yet finalized, so he had to remarry her once the legal papers were complete. In the Adams campaign's hands, this became a scandal. Charles Hammond in his Cincinnati Gazette asked: “Ought a convicted adulteress and her paramour husband be placed in the highest offices of this free and Christian land?â€
The notorious Coffin Handbills attacked Jackson for his court martial and execution of deserters, massacres of Indian villages, and his habit of dueling.
Adams did not escape attack. It was charged that Adams, while serving as Minister to Russia, had surrendered an American servant girl to the appetites of the Czar. Adams was also accused of using public funds to buy gambling devices for the presidential residence; it turned out that these were a chess set and a pool table.
~ snip ~
Rachel Jackson had been having chest pains throughout the campaign, and she became aggravated by the personal attacks on her marriage. She became ill and died on December 22, 1828. Jackson accused the Adams campaign, and Henry Clay even more so, of causing her death, saying, "I can and do forgive all my enemies. But those vile wretches who have slandered her must look to God for mercy."
When the results of the election were announced, a mob entered the White House, damaging the furniture and lights. Adams escaped through the back and large punch bowls were set up to lure the crowd outside. Conservatives were horrified at this event, and held it up as a portent of terrible things to come from the first Democratic president.[11]
Andrew Jackson was sworn in as President on March 4, 1829.
chess set and a pool table.
The scandal! The horror! :panic:
Trouble in River City.
History is full of fun stories like these. Raven should learn some history. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
One thing that has struck me by watching the series is that we've had a lot of mediocre to bad Presidents.
GOBUCKS, hi5 for the fine research. It was a snap. I just nadined "Raven AND idiot".

Being in the South, I've heard a word used to describe Lord Zero, but I've never used it.*
*(outside the walls of my house.) O-)
I believe respect is for the Title one has, the person behind the Title has to EARN respect on their own ability and actions.
I hold respect for the Office of the President but the person holding that office has to EARN the respect of their country and the world.
When anyone with a title of any kind be it father, mother, boss, banker lawyer, any seat in Politics causes embarrassment to the Title, cannot function as is required-------I should respect them personally ????
BLIND SQUIRREL ALERT!!!!!
H5, vesta. You nailed it.
