FoxNews just announced that Michelle Bachmann won the straw poll.
-
And Ron Paul was #2, Pawlenty #3.

Sorry, but the Ames poll is NOT about polling people and more about shoveling in paid shills for candidates. Paul in second?
On what planet? The results were bought and don't even begin to reflect reality. Sorry, but come back to me in six months and tell me any of the top 4 is going to win the nomination.

If I'm not mistaken, the Ames straw poll is a fundraiser for the GOP. To cast a vote requires a $25 contribution and you can cast as many votes as you can buy. It's not so much a measure of popularity as it is a way to buy media attention for your candidate. The Paulbots are buying publicity for Dr Nuts.

Exactly. Bussing a bunch of people in and having them "donate" to buy votes for their candidate isn't exactly realistic.
Then again, the Paultards will be spamming polls, etc., claiming "overwhelming" support for the ri-tard between now and Super Tuesday.
I still think he'll go back on his word and run for Congress again when (not if) he doesn't get the GOP nomination. I hope I'm wrong, mind you, but this is also the same guy who said he'd term-limit himself.

I heard the straw poll was a fund raiser, $30 bucks to vote. (Sorry, I can't back that up with a link)
Paul minions did the same thing in 2006-2007 as well. They would travel from out of state, buy their votes and crow their victories all across the net.
Sparky's right. This is about who can pay enough people to fork out the money to vote.
The media won't say that because its hype that sells commercials.
---The real poll is when people actually vote.
Still. I'm glad a solid conservative walked away with the prize. It's good to see RINOs denied the prize.

It's $25... I got an envelope from the GOP a couple weeks ago inviting me to "participate".

At best, it shows the kind of organization supports that a lesser known candidate might have. Paul's supporters are worse than Obama's in thinking they've found the new messiah. And I think Sparky's right - we're gonna get to hear about this many many many more times before the election, especially if Paul actually puts some effort in this time.
