My ex made me get a Facebook account over a year ago but I didn't do much with it till 2 months ago. I started to look for old friends from school, friends from other cities I used to live in, people I used to work with, etc. It was fun and fascinating to find them and see how much they have changed over the years. I have even picked up new "friends" ( I use quotation marks because really, it is not as tho I can call them to help me move or anything ) who are relatives of friends, or just interesting people who share similar intrest. Some of them are people who remember me tho I can't say I remember them. In those cases I accept them out of politeness and hope to remember them later or that they are just intresting posters.
I was up to 49 on my list. As of a few minutes ago I am down to 48.
One of the people I didn't remember was a moonbat lousing up my page with post after post of her supporting the Verizon strike. What the hell could they possibly want? You know they are getting good befits. You know they are getting fair pay for their skills. But here they are demanding more in a crappy economy when others would kills for what they already have. Hell I had to sell plasma today to put gas in the truck. And here these union asshats are trying to squeeze more out of a company that would just turn around jack up my service charges to make up for it. :argh:
Why don't unions take all those dues they collect and use their collective bargaining for things like supplemental retirement on top of the company pension, or supplemental insurance, or vacation deals, or college loans for members? They could negotiate with other companies for all kinds of deals that would benefit them and the people selling it to them. Become a mutual aid union (that could actually be fun) instead of a group of thugs that blackmail and bully others. Hell I would gladly join a union and pay dues if they did stuff like that instead of trying to buy politicians, trying to force me to vote for things I don't support, or hammering one of the few industries we still have left in this country.

I dunno. This is kind of heavy for the Lounge.
I have a couple of genuine UAW-grade moonbats on my Facebook. I avoid the topic entirely. It just ain't worth it.

My sisters estranged husband works for verizon in NY, he's been there 15 years; pays nothing into his health insurance, virtually nothing into his pension fund, makes over $145,000 a yr and gets $3,000 overtime for working a Saturday, Sunday, or Holiday.
Then today I see this from a former Marine friend of mine that is a union worker in NY:
I AM A UNION WORKER, I am not the problem. Teachers, police officers, paramedics, firefighters, road workers, etc. are NOT the enemy. If you're jealous of our benefits, FIGHT FOR YOUR OWN!, not against ours. The rich who created this crisis are putting middle class families against each other. We live here, pay taxes, work hard & try to support our families too. If you're a union worker, copy & re-educate!!

Yeah, you may be right. It really didn't fit any where else tho.

He IS the problem, and he shouldn't preach to most of the rest of the country about how superb a person he is. The rest of us AREN'T in politicians' pockets like union scumbags. The rich, the rich, the rich is a constant complaint of the left. But "the rich" is never really defined.

I've had unionistas unfriend me. I work for a company that is unionized. It's kind of funny watching those in the union cry like babies and run to the union when they get disciplined for coming into work late. ::)

Yeah. One of 'em is a former commander/bandmaster of mine. The guy, who really is okay in many respects, lives on FB. Every couple of days to a week or so when I don't have something I have to do within the next 35 seconds, I might fire up my FB account and I see post after post after post of this guy and his "musings".
I have addressed some of his hyperbole in the past, but I damned sure don't have the time to do it today. So I let it go, shaking my head in the process.
At the end of the day, a moonbat will stay a moonbat.

I was in Facebook for about 2 weeks and bailed out.

if their repeated postings irritated you, you should have just blocked their posts, while still remaining "friends"

My mother works for a different, unionized phone company and is a very active member of her union. I consider it a personal accomplishment that, after several LONG conversations, she has decided that she cannot support the Verizon strikers. Even if her reason is that, as bad as the economy is, they should be glad to have a job.

He sure is part of the problem.

My sister is married to a Philly union business agent. Oi.

I thought about that but like I said I didn't remember her from any thing. We didn't even go to the same school. She seemed to be friends with a lot of people I knew but I have a feeling I never knew her at all. She might have friended me just because Facebook told her she might know me because of all the mutual friends we had. Besides I think my list was getting a bit big. I would rather have a small list of people I actually know or have a mutual intrest with then a list of hundreds of people like some of them have.
I can understand why some of my friends have long list like the ones who own businesses or the one that works in a rehab center or a couple that are pastors but other than that I can't see people having over a thousand "friends".
Funny thing tho. I just fired up Facebook and now someone is posting ANTI Union stuff about Verizon strike. But that is ok. I actually grew up with that guy.

These assholes complain? What the hell do they think regular people make?

Doesn't matter. They know that you still have some money in your pocket, and they want all of it.

He is most likely in management and is now working 12-15 hour days, 7 days a week.

Do you have a target on your back because of your right not to join?

I have lots of targets but I don't know if there is any specific reason. I do know I am not liked because I actually work. Apparently working is "trying" to make them look bad.
