Threw my hat in with the local volunteer FD.
I recently moved to the rurals. The Army gave me skills I can use to help them and in turn helping them keeps my practiced on my very perishable medic skills.
Only 8 people besides me but everyone is damned friendly. They're very much neighbors and it is an honor to know them.

So are you fully healed up, then?

That's awesome!

Good on ya! :cheersmate:

That's Awesome! Neighbor helping neighbor is how it ought to be...so glad to see you doing this

If any of you have the opportunity, do it.

Good for you, SSB! :cheersmate:

Same sort of deal with me, with one exception -- they asked me if I wanted to serve, but I declined. I appreciate what they do, but that's not my line of work.
We live out in the boonies and the volunteer FD station is right up the road from us.
We pay $40 per year for "coverage".
So far we haven't needed it.

It ain't much but I'm damn glad I did it
That's what she said?
