While the rest of the country cuts back on vacations, etc.,
CORVALLIS, Ore. - A Corvallis neighborhood buzzed with activity on Monday when an unexpected guest stopped by for a visit: first lady Michelle Obama.
Obama, her mother and her kids visited the first lady's older brother in Corvallis, two sources confirmed to KATU's sister-station in Eugene.
Their plane touched down in Eugene just before 11 a.m. A motorcade rushed the first family to Corvallis, where the first lady's brother Craig Robinson is the head men's basketball coach for the Oregon State Beavers.
(snip)
Schoeffler said this is a private vacation, and there will be no public appearances.

The plane is a Boeing C-40B, the military version of the 737, with tail number 10041.
A flight crew of eight to 10 people de-planed and removed luggage from the flight. They declined to comment to reporters.
A crew comprised of whom?
Lots of public money spent, though, especially using a plane that has such poor fuel economy and emits the dreaded products of pollution that obastard hates.

You don't get it... Michelle is finally proud of her country. You can't put a price tag on that.

This is probably a dumb question, but those are huge planes right?
Couldn't she have gone on something smaller? Her entourage for a private trip to her brother's wouldn't require that many people would it?

I wonder what the total cost to taxpayers is for all of their vacations.

I'm surprised that it wasn't a 747.

A few more of their Whitehouse parties and her ass will require it.

Its smaller than the 757 stretch Pelosi used to fly on, but it is a smaller airplane. The commercial version holds somewhere around 150 people. I think its the smallest one that the military uses for VIPs.(and I use VIP in this case very, very loosely) All in all, I would want her to use that one instead of the others because its fuel economy is better.
