Title: Iphone
Post by: Gina on August 09, 2011, 01:38:50 PM
I have the iphone 3gs.  I also have an ipod.  I want to get the music off my ipod and transfer it to my itunes to sync to my phone.  I can't do it.  Is this something Apple did on purpose to make me buy that music all over?

Have you upgraded to the latest version of iTunes?

You *should* be able to do that with iTunes, but beyond that I have no idea.  I've never tried, but I've heard you can do it.

I seem to remember something about having to authorize a device.  You should be able to authorize several devices.  I can't remember the exact number, but it's more than a couple.

ipod can only be linked to 1 computer at a time. If you need to music on the ipod there is shareware called "sharepod" that let's you pretty easily get around apple's weirdness. If you don't need it just wipe the ipod and sync with new computer.

Or wait a few months for iCloud where everything you have on one device is sharable with all your apple gear.

I'll stick with my Sansa Fuze.  I can connect it to any computer, transfer music or videos to and from it with no problem. Most computers recognize it as a USB mass storage device and lets me drag and drop files.

+1 !!

This is one of the many reasons I REFUSE to own an Apple product.

Ohh, and Right Coast?? I've already been reading horror stories about iCloud and other "cloud" devices.

My wife has an Ipod, and it is a pain in the ass to upload songs, and to use, particularly since she only uses it once in a while. Downloading is also a pain in the ass. I hate the damned thing. It takes hours to figure out the new stuff and to remember how I did things the time before. WAY too damned complicated, but that's how Apple operates.
