When the media says that both sides are to blame... Updated at 10:47 PM
that means the Repubs win the propaganda battle.
Because they know that if both Parties start with equal blame, the Repubs will win the war in the media and the Democrats will be blamed.
For example, FOX News starts their show this morning with this very point: they are both to blame. The reality is that both Parties are not to blame. The Republican Party, led by the radical Tea Partiers are solely to blame. We should not let the media promote that crap without a response.
The fact of the matter is that raising the debt limit has been a routine matter since 1917. Both Parties, even though there have been protest votes, always agreed that America would pay its debts. Until this year. The Tea Party and the Republicans - they cannot be separated - chose to hold the country hostage. They said it wouldn't matter if we defaulted. We would have enough money coming in to pay the interest on the debt. Unless they got trillions of dollars in spending cuts, they were ready to let this country go under.
So, media, tell us again who is to blame??
You lying stack of shits!

The DUmmies still don't get it, the govt can not keep spending like this. I don't know what they are even bitching about, 0bama got his way and he gets to spend a ton more money. There aren't going to be any actual cuts. Even if we do cut 1 trillion over ten years that is going to be a drop in the bucket.
This country has tried things your way Kentuck, since 2007 and look at the results, unemployment is higher, gas prices are up, and the deficit is through the freaking roof. Not to mention record numbers of people om food stamps, which you goons see as a good thing.

1. I know
we have to make sure we rub their faces in this mess THEY'VE created.
No, the Tea Party hasn't created a mess, we are the ones trying to be adults and fix the damn problem, you lefties meanwhile cry yourselves to sleep every night in fear that one dollar may get cut from the federal budget. You goons won't be happy until we take every dime from the rich and hand it over to you, and if the country burns down to the ground in the meantime you don't care one bit, all you want is "your share" of other people's labor.

2. "Well both sides do it" is the meme when a Republican has nowhere to go, it is almost as good as
"This is strictly the Republicans' fault".
and they ARE lying sacks of shit!!! So it's time we demand our president stop cow towing to them.
At least we can be honest enough to admit that our side has helped create this problem, in fact that is why Nancy got the gavel in 2007, then her and Reid showed us just how amateurish the GOP is when spending compared to the dems. You can't wrap your tiny minds around this being about more than Democrats and Republicans, this is about our future, our kid's future, and their kids future, but all you care about is the few dollars that you can get from the govt to go into your pocket. Not one of you gives a damn that our country may fall apart from overspending.

Sure you have. It's done all the time in round-ups and at the rodeo.
I wonder if LaydeeBug is Nadain the brain's sock puppet or an evil twin.

How quickly the DUmmies forget that democrats and Nancy Pelosi have been in control of the checkbook since January 2007. That is when the spending spree really started.
What debt was run up during Nancy Pelosi's term as speaker? Wasn't it like $5 trillion?
Why, yes it was - actually $5.3 trillion or $3.6 billion PER DAY.

Facts are facts, DUmmies.

Honestly, it usually means it was a Democrat idea, and they got a few dopes like McCain to sign on for it.

I like how LaydeeBug gently corrects kentuck on stack of *****, then turns around and mangles kowtow in the very same sentence.

When the media says that both sides are to blame...
that means the Repubs win the propaganda battle.
It actually means that most people blame Obama and the Democrats but the media which need kneepads BTW, they can't get away with blaming Republicans because people won't buy it, so they blame both sides hoping people won't realize who's to blame.
-
Didn't most of the Republicans identified as TEA Partiers vote against this legislation ?
Also, what happened to all that primitive talk about wanting a 'clean bill' to raise the debt ceiling, and how Obama 'won' because a future Democrat-led congress will simply nix the cuts before they happen ?
Its as if those posts never happened....

If anything, you brain-dead DUchebag (ken****, that means you), what S&P did vindicates the Tea Party.

Hey, Obama's been towing a cow around for years. Her name is Me-Shall....but she don't look like she's a very good milker tho.

Oh, and my daddy used to tell me that chocolate milk came from black cows. ...and I believed him because you know your daddy wouldn't lie to you.... :rotf:

Yeah. Missed it. It was a post from some unknown, faceless, useless DUmmy, Ladybug, or something like that.
I'm more recently upset by some DUmmy claiming to buy mayonnaise in something called a "****ing jar". Typical democrat lingo.

From Power Line (http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2011/08/tea-party-downgrade-they-cant-possibly-sell-it.php):
The downgrading of U.S. debt is an extreme embarrassment for the government in general, and the Obama administration in particular. So the administration has reacted in the only way it knows: by denouncing Standard & Poors, and by blaming its political opponents, the supporters of the Tea Party, for the downgrade.
The administration’s knee-jerk responses are somewhat inconsistent: if S&P was wrong to downgrade the debt, and the downgrade was based on a mathematical error, then it is hard to see how the downgrade can also be the Tea Party’s fault. (In the legal world, this is known as pleading in the alternative: when sued for borrowing a neighbor’s pot and breaking it, the defendant answers that he never borrowed the pot; the pot was never broken; and the pot was already broken when he borrowed it.)
Of the administration’s alternative theories, the most ludicrous is the claim that the Tea Party, the one group dedicated to doing something about the nation’s spending and debt crisis, is somehow to blame for it. Yet this is the theory that President Obama’s political adviser, David Axelrod, tried to sell on Face the Nation this morning:
Mr. Obama’s longtime political adviser, David Axelrod, made clear that Democrats would seek to brand the rating as a “Tea Party downgrade.†He said Mr. Obama had been willing to compromise on issues sacred to liberals by curbing spending on entitlements, but the deal foundered because “Republicans are having to respond to this very, very strident group that is pulling them away and believes that compromise is a dirty word. That is a prescription for failure.â€
-snip-
What is most ludicrous is the Democrats’ effort to distract attention from the fact that they controlled Congress from January 2007 until January 2011. The first Congress that had any ability to be influenced by the Tea Party movement has been in office for only six months. Do the Democrats seriously expect anyone to believe that S&P’s downgrade of U.S. debt arises out of something that Republican Congressmen have done in the last six months? We expect the Democrats to appeal to ignorance at all times, but this is ridiculous.
Let’s take a walk down memory lane. What did the Democrats do with respect to federal debt during the four years they controlled both Houses of Congress? Here is a summary of the deficits the Democrats racked up during that time:
FY 2008 — $460 billion FY 2009 — $1,410 billion ($1.4 trillion) FY 2010 — $1,300 billion ($1.3 trillion) FY 2011 — $1,600 (estimated) ($1.6 trillion)
Of the $14.5 trillion national debt, nearly $4.8 trillion–one-third of the total–was incurred during that four-year period when the Congress was exclusively controlled by the Democrats. Moreover, and equally important, during that time the Democrats did nothing to assure the markets that they have a long-term plan to deal with the country’s burgeoning debt. On the contrary, for more than two years the Congressional Democrats have refused to adopt or even to propose a budget! If you are looking for the reason why rating agencies have lost faith in the ability of our government to get its spending and debt under control, you need look no farther.

Listening to Mark Davis on WBAP here in Dallas this morning on my way to work. A caller brought up a salient point. In 5 years, no one will remember the members of Congress that served during this time, but they will remember who was President during the downgrade. A little hyperbolic, but it's a good point. Right or wrong, in the end, the Administration power will get the success or blame for what happens.
Suck on it DUmmies. Suck it long, and suck it hard. In the end, The Won owns this.

Yeah, I've been saying that for two weeks. That should have been Boehner's negotiation tactic. We're not passing crap that doesn't include a balanced budget. Nobody will remember that I was Speaker of the House, but they'll remember Obama presided over the default and downgrade. Of course, Boehner was too scared to do so.

Well, I think the next time I have an extra bill or two to pay off I'll just go to my bank and ask for more money. Of course, this will make my payments go up. But instead of paying off my extra bills I'll just go on a spending spree. I mean, what's extra money for if not to spend it? I mean, I could just cut down on extras, spend less at the grocery store, etc. but why do that when I can get more money? I'm sure as long as I keep getting more things and borrowing more money none of this will catch up with me.
