Meet the freshman keeping Congress in session this summer (http://thehill.com/homenews/house/175767-meet-the-eight-freshman-keeping-congress-in-session)

Quote
Eight House Republicans are earning their stripes this month while blocking President Obama from making recess appointments.

The rest of their House colleagues are home in their districts for the traditional August recess, but the group first-term lawmakers has pledged to hold pro-forma sessions in the lower chamber every three days for the remainder of the summer, effectively blocking the Democrat-controlled Senate from adjourning.

The move prevents Obama from unilaterally making new appointments to federal agencies, which can be done only if both chambers are in recess. And the Constitution states that neither the House nor the Senate can be in recess without the consent of the other chamber. >>>

“As long as the president wants to bypass the usual processes and make recess appointments, that’s his power to make them and it’s our power not to recess,” said Harris in an interview with The Hill after returning to his Maryland home on Friday.

“If this is what it takes to make our feelings heard then that’s the way we’ll do it. >>> MORE

The group of freshmen consists of:

Jeff Landry (R-La.)
Andy Harris (R-Md.)
Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.)
Mick Mulvaney (R-S.C.)
Jeff Denham (R-Calif.)
Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.)
Steve Strivers (R-Ohio)
Allen West (R-Fla)
Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) (3d termer)

God Bless these patriots!

Hi,

I would be inclined to add Dennis Ross of Lakeland, FL to that list.  While he replaced another Republican he too has supported the Tea Party and voted with us so far.  He is pretty adamant about a balanced budget amendment and feels it could be the cornerstone issue in the 2012 election.

I'd also include our Rep. Adam Kinzinger. He is doing yeoman's work supporting our country, standing in the way of demonrats, and keeping his campaign promises.

My district has Steve Southerland, he isn't well know or anything but, he did vote no on the debt ceiling deal, so I'm happy with him so far.

We're about to see two more conservative congress members. One will be an additional, as SC adds a seat and Joe Wilson will be losing the Aiken, SC area when a new district is created, and the other is my own. Paul Broun is my current congressman. His district runs from a sliver Richmond County, to Columbia County (My county), through Athens and all the way up to Toccoa (Band of Brothers "Curahee" fame). John Barrow's district, Richmond County to Savannah, will be adding the HEAVILY conservative Columbia County and it's bound to go red.
