(Colorado Independent (http://coloradoindependent.com/95450/al-gore-calls-b-s-on-corporate-polluters)) — The former vice president dropped in on an Aspen Institute media forum titled “Networks and Citizenship†on Thursday and railed against corporate evildoers who put profit above society.
Gore referenced the book “Merchants of Doubt: How a Handful of Scientists Obscured the Truth on Issues from Tobacco Smoke to Global Warming†by Naomi Oreskes and Erik M. Conway, which tells of how petroleum, steel, autos, utilities and others enlisted lobbyists to cloud the climate debate.
Gore recalled how not long ago tobacco giants “succeeded in delaying the implementation of the surgeon general’s report for 40 years — 40 years! In every one of those 40 years the average number of Americans killed by cigarettes each year exceeded the total number of Americans killed in all of World War II: 450,000 per year. My sister was one of them. . . . It was evil, evil, evil.â€
The model of media manipulation used then, Gore said, “was transported whole cloth into the climate debate. And some of the exact same people — I can go down a list of their names — are involved in this. And so what do they do? They pay pseudo-scientists to pretend to be scientists to put out the message: ‘This climate thing, it’s nonsense. Man-made CO2 doesn’t trap heat. It may be volcanoes.’ Bullshit! ‘It may be sun spots.’ Bullshit! ‘It’s not getting warmer.’ Bullshit!†Gore exclaimed.

My question is: who is the actual doer of evil in this case? The tobacco companies trying to stall the report? You know the guys with no legal obligation to present the report. Or the government; failing, again, to fulfill its duties and protect the American people?

Next question...was Al Bore or his father one of the obstructionist?

I understand that the temperature is falling in the US, if not worldwide. Anomalies do occur in any climate change. Man-cause climate change is bullshit.

The fact that they do not simply challenge data and disprove it, but rather personally attack scientists who come up with data contradicting anthropogenic global climate change tells me just how fragile they think their idea is.
By the way, when I started school the great environmental fear was the hole in the ozone layer. Funny how I haven't heard anything about that in years. :whistling:

gore may be right BULLSHIT, gore is smarter than us BULLSHIT, we need to heed gore's warnings BULLSHIT

Would this be the same Al Gore that excoriated the tobacco industry and swore off their money because of his dear departed sister's death from lung cancer only to continue to take money from tobacco lobbyists and even used his past experiences on a tobacco farm to fit in better with his electorate?
And we're supposed to buy his newest brand of bullshit because he got called a sex poodle (fattest damn sex poodle I've ever seen)? Or because he's feeling a little bit irrelevant these days?
Excelsior!

Haven't you heard? That problem got fixed when they banned hairspray.
