I got inspired

I'm a composer of music not words, but got inspired to write a bit of poetry given the recent events. The sea is a metaphor for the change I hope we see at the next election. Thought I'd share:
A Day at the Beach
I see them on the shore,
A line of heads facing out to sea
Echoes of Easter Island,
Sentinels looking out over the ocean
Waiting for its embrace.
When they were created
The water did not reach here, but
The voices of the prophets
Were drowned
By the calls of their profits.
Ice melted
Seas rose
And now
They wait
High priests of some mammonian deity
Waiting for their reward
Each face is different:
One resembles a strange chimera
Half man
Half turtle
Old and mumbling
Another is painted bright orange
Weeping,
The salty flow
A presentiment of the wave to come.
A man walks by.
One head screams
“I want what I want when I want itâ€
The man remembers that his wife wanted to live
But could not afford a doctor
“How does it feel to want?â€
He answers
As the water rises
The panicked expressions,
The realization that they will soon be
Over their heads,
Drowning,
Is understood
By those walking on the beach:
Victims of an economic tide
Who found themselves in the same position.
The sea comes in,
The sounds of
final choking gasps for air
The waves lapping the shore
Are sweeter than the siren’s song

What was the source of that "inspiration" . . . the runs? A cattle prod? A bad acid flashback? :???:

You know, as much as the DUmmies hate the rich, you would think they would be praying for the polar ice caps to melt... and wash away the rich mans beach front property.
