Satirical mints poking fun at Obama pulled from UT bookstore

Breath mints are usually refreshing, but a Knoxville legislator believes a University of Tennessee bookstore's selling of novelty candies mocking President Barack Obama stinks.
UT officials pulled the mints poking fun at Obama from store shelves after state Rep. Joe Armstrong, a Democrat, visited the bookstore and told the director he found the satirical mints offensive.
"When you operate on state and federal dollars, you ought to be sensitive to those type of politically specific products," Armstrong said. "If it was a private entity or corporation or store, (that's different), but this is a state university. We certainly don't want in any way to put the university in a bad light by having those political (products), particularly aimed at defaming the president."
The tin can of mints has a blue and red image of the president with the words: "This is change? Disappointmints."

Where can I buy those mints??????
-
I'd love to get my hands on some of those! Great name, "Disappointmints." Wish I'd thought of it.
-
So what do you give a beleaguered president who just ate a mess of birthday barbecue with his friends from Chicago?
Disappoint-mints.
Yes, Disappoint-mints, the breath mints with President Barack Obama's likeness on the cover.

Yeah, they caved and pulled them off the shelf. No matter, they can sell them on the Internet, and make a mint!
:rimshot:
Sorry.
-
I tried to find some on Google. No luck.
I did find some liberals selling GWB mints, but I imagine they're a little stale by now.

Satirical mints poking fun at Obama pulled from UT bookstore (http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2011/aug/03/satirical-mints-poking-fun-at-obama-pulled-from/)
KNOXVILLE - Breath mints packaged in a tin can poking fun at President Barack Obama have been pulled from the shelves at the University of Tennessee bookstore after local legislator Joe Armstrong told store officials he was offended by the mints.
Armstrong, D-Knoxville, said he got a call from a student who had seen the satirical mints in the bookstore and was bothered by the depiction of the president.
The tin can reads: "This is change? Disappointmints." >>>
Armstrong said he did not ask Kent to remove the mints from the store but was glad he decided to do so.
Kent said the bookstore had previously carried mints in tins that depicted former President George W. Bush when he was in office.
More details as they develop online and in tomorrow's News Sentinel.
I've got to get some of those mints. Looks like they're selling on ebay with lots of bidders for $30 and up a tin now. With any luck, Impeach-mints will hit the shelves soon.

John Kass
August 5, 2011
Corrections and clarifications: In a Page 2 column on Wednesday, John Kass incorrectly asserted that by raising the federal debt ceiling by $2.4 trillion, President Barack Obama had grabbed "reality by the hair" and kicked it repeatedly "in the behind." But Thursday's stock-market plunge of more than 500 points proves that reality remains immune to the president's charms. The Tribune regrets the error.

They have quite a selection there!
-
I like the fact that they are bi-partisan.
-
Beck said today that he will start selling them on his websites.
I love the disappoint mints idea. I wish I had thought of it.
I also heard on Beck's show that nobody complained when this same bookstore sold similar satirical mints about Bush.
-
Definitely hafta get some of those!
