Free crack pipes to be handed out in Vancouver
Health officials in Vancouver say they will launch a pilot project later this year to distribute clean, unused crack pipes to drug users.
While heroin users can pick up clean needles from needle-exchange programs or the city's controversial safe-injection site, crack pipes are more difficult to come by.
Some crack smokers can afford to buy small glass or Pyrex stems to use as pipes. Others fashion makeshift pipes from bottles, cans or even hollow car antennas. And in many cases, they just simply share, potentially putting themselves at risk of contracting disease.
It's part of the city's harm-reduction strategy that seeks to reduce the transmission of disease while ensuring health-care and social workers are able to interact with hard-to-reach drug addicts.

Idiotic. The only diseases at risk of being transmitted by a 'substandard' crack pipe are the same ones these dipshits are exposed to in a thousand other ways ever day. Share them? OF COURSE they will share them, new or old, at least to the extent a cracksmoker feels like sharing his pipe to begin with. Sounds like the Vancouver government has been experimenting with crack itself.
This is like giving away free single-shot pistols, with ammo, to the first hundred callers on the suicide hotline.

Since most of them believe in evolution instead of intelligent design wouldn't this fall under the theory of survival of the fittest? And won't the crack (and usually the activities they participate in to support their habit) kill them anyway? Besides, what the hell can they pick up from a crack pipe that they wouldn't get in the normal course of living?

They come cased with a few rounds...you know, a couple for practice, and there is the chance that just one might have a bad cap, then there is the whole liability thing since if we just put in the one, survivors might make wild claims about us facilitating the suicide instead of giving out valuable presentation heirlooms as the included brochure clearly explains...

Much to the dismay of the DUmmies in this country, many jurisdictions have laws regarding drug paraphernalia. Possession of a crack pipe will get you a one way ticket to jail.

I'm going to go against everyone here and say that I don't have an issue with this as long as they use the safe-injection site in Vancouver. The safe-injection site is a very good thing as it protects the people doing the drugs and offers them a way to rehab and other services and it also helps protect the public, taking the waste from these drugs that would have ended up in the street and disposing of it in a safe way.
I'm for the programs in Vancouver 100%. Anyone against them needs to first do more them read this article.
It's a great idea not only for the drug users (who yes I know most don't care about), but it's a great thing for the general public too. And on top of that, it's worked so far.

Since it's most likely being paid for with tax dollars, and the elimination of the program won't reduce any taxes collected, I'd rather see them fund the study of artistic studies, such as primitive poo flinging while on public display.

I wonder if the Canadian government uses taxpayer money to supply this criminal underclass with burglar tools, and a fencing service to buy stolen property.
After all, crackheads need cash to buy their crack, and it would cause an outcry if the government directly handed out the rocks.
If anyone suggested cutting this insane libtard program, you'd start hearing about how many jobs would be lost in government-supported crack pipe factories.

Perhaps there is more at the link, but I don't believe any restrictions on where the free crackpipes could be used was mentioned.

Supplying addicts with needles is bad enough.
This program hands out crack pipes. It's for the convenience of addicts, not safety.
The District of Columbia doesn't supply pipes, but that doesn't prevent most of the population from smoking crack.
Surely Canadian crackheads are as resourceful as the vermin that inhabit D.C..

“Safer crack cocaine smoking among those who use this substance needs to be encouraged, and crack cocaine smokers need to be engaged, by including crack pipes with available harm reduction supplies and establishing supervised inhalation sites,†the report said.
Across Canada, only a handful of cities, including Calgary and Winnipeg, hand out crack pipes.

So the Canadian taxpayers are not just supplying the drug paraphernalia. They are also going to set up taxpayer-funded crack houses.
