Turn the damn cell phone off at a theater! Dale Fout claimed the text was business related. If it was, why was he at the theater to begin with?

So in a situation, a theater, church or funeral,  where it is best not to speak, how do you get the attention of another to quietly inform them their conduct is un approbate, their shoe is on fire or they have droped their wallet ?????

This is so wrong on so many ways, a tap on the sholder is now assult, had the person spoken out loud would that have been verbal assult??    Had they been seated next to each other and a gental foot tap been assult???/

What next, pay big bucks to see a movie and some parent with 3 kids that keep jumping up and down in front of you -----full seating, no where to go, choices here.

One can miss half the movie to complain to management, one can get the attention of the parents that come back at you with---these are just kids.   Tap the parent or adult on the sholder to get their attention and ask them to controll their kids.  Now you got a fight on your hands.

A very good reason why more and more people wait to see movies at home.  Wait 6 months and rent the friggin movie, cost less then $5.00 ------

Cost to go to the movie for 4, $40.00, popcorn and drink another $35.00-----    Bail for asking others to quiet down   $250.00-----Laywer is another $1800 and one has to ask why anyone goes to theaters anymore.

Around here, virtually all of the multiplex theatres have "jammers" so cell phones won't work in the building.  There's a sign on the door advising cell phone users.  I assume that they were installed because there was a problem with young folks and cell phones during films.

I have a small one that can be carried in a pocket that is very effective if needed for particularly annoying people.  It has a range of about 50 feet.  So far, I've only used it once.........that was when a teenager was texting for 30 minutes sitting next to me at church on Sunday morning.  Push the button.....problem solved....

I do not understand texting TV----I was under the impression that this was a silent form of communication.

I have seen people text and heard nothing, please clue me in on this interesting way to communicate.

Here's one example:

http://www.thesignaljammer.com/products/Cell-Phone-Blocker-Mini.html

That one's pretty sophisticated.........I built mine from a circuit in an electronic experimenter's magazine.  Paid about fifteen bucks for the parts, and the mini-enclosure, mine also takes out wireless security cameras as well as wireless internet access (anything operating between 500 MHz and 3 GHz)

Dunno.......

As for my personal use, perhaps the appropriate question would be "do I really give a crap"......

I recall an article I read a year or so ago where some business or other was prosecuted for installing one).

I wouldn't mind having a little pocket version like you have.  It could certainly come in handy on occasion.

As I mentioned above, I built mine, and it is even smaller that the commercial one in the link above........it fits in a small plastic enclosure sorta like an auto keyless entry device.  It fits on my keychain, with a flip up guard on a locking push button.  Works off of a 3V lithium battery that I've yet to replace.

On the legality.......well, the way I look at it SCOTUS found a "Right of Privacy" in the Constitution in Roe v Wade.........I can't fight it, so I may as well use it......... :-)

It may be accomplished with shielding rather than jamming......all I can tell you is my cell phone gets "no signal" indications when I take it inside the actual theatre.......it will work in the lobby, but not the screening rooms.

Err....I'm likely old enough to be her grandfather......

That aside, I've been married to this redheaded lady who was my high school sweetheart, for 45 years next March.  She certainly lives up to all the legends about redheads, but I wouldn't trade her for anything........
