The teabaggers are fanatics
So don't hold your breath waiting for them to be reasonable, because they won't. They are as focused as any suicide bomber can be...and are just as willing for YOU to die for their beliefs.
It is important to grasp this concept because this is what we are up against.

Just like modern suicide bombers if you aren't afraid to die in the blast there isn't much to do to stop them.

6. They are terrorists who are sending this country to hell in a handbasket.
There's no negotiating with them, anything they do ruins the country.

Once again DUmmies, I'm begging you, please tell me just how wanting the govt to spend responsibly is extreme.
Plus this meme that well we raised the debt ceiling 100 other times, holds no water either. Yes we have raised the debt ceiling before, but we haven't had a 15 trillion dollar deficit before either. Something has to give or we will eventually collapse and none of you goons will get your govt checks after that.

What we're seeing is a bunch of primitives worried their free ride might end. Remember, "Ask not what your country can do for you" has been rewritten to say "Ask what your country can do for you." When libs see their free ride being challenged, naturally they're going to lash out at those who refuse to pay for their free ride anymore.
To conservatives, traitors to their own country are those who cheered US military deaths in order to serve their political ends. To liberals, traitors are those who want to take their freebies away.

Nah. More like the hero-escapee in a chain gang movie, who has just had to swim through a swamp, and has get about a hundred leeches off his body before the blood loss kills him.

BS for comparing that moron with the fine men and women of the Navy Hospital Corps.

We're nihilists? They're the ones so lacking values that they'll yank helpless members of the human race from their wombs without a 2nd thought. But when you devalue humanity and think the earth would be better if humans didn't exist what can you expect? Of course, that produces another contradiction, however, because they embrace all the freebies (and the earth-destroying mechanics of getting said freebies...paperwork, the energy needed to house 1000's of government workers in 100's of federal buildings) that keep them alive. They're a cornucopia of irony.

Silly question, but why is it considered "unreasonable" to curb Government spending? how come we can't get away with spending 50% than we take in in our personal lives, but the Government can?

When we cut our spending it doesn't affect the moonbats, when the govt does (if it ever did) their free ponies would be shorter.
Hell you can't even cut funding to the "arts" and they get all up in arms over it, they act like gay cowboy clown poets will starve or something.

I heard a stat the other day that shocked me, the Government sends out 100 million checks a month to citizens, 100 million? 1/3 of the population is receiving checks? WTF? not sure if that's just SS, Welfare or if that includes Government workers. No freaking idea how we can keep that up.

NPR, PBS and the NEA, kaboom, gone. That would be some wasted money saved just by eliminating them.

I hope that includes federal workers and our military, if not we are "screwn".

US Sends Out More Than 80 Million Checks a Month
Wednesday, 27 Jul 2011 08:45 AM
By Newsmax Wires
President Barack Obama undershot the total when he observed recently that the federal government sends out 70 million checks a month. The tally actually is 80 million, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner acknowledged this week, according to The Washington Post.
Despite the dueling check tallies — actually, most are electronic checks rather than paper ones — Obama and Geithner were striving to make the same point: Shutting off the federal payment spigot if the nation defaults on its debts will leave a lot of people high and dry.
The figures are not only boggling but also still too low, the Post reported.
“The figures used by Obama and Geithner were, if anything, too low. They relied on Treasury Department figures from June that include Social Security (56 million checks that month), veterans benefits (4.5 million checks), and spending on non-defense contractors and vendors (1.8 million checks),†the Post noted.
“But those numbers do not include reimbursements to Medicare providers and vendors (100 million claims in June), and electronic transfers to the 21 million households receiving food stamps.â€
The Post quotes Bill Frenzel, a former Republican congressman from Minnesota who is at the Brookings Institution, as saying that the numbers are hard to grasp.
“It tells you what the government can do for people and reassures you, and on the other hand, it scares the hell out of you because we do so many things,†Frenzel said. “If you’re a compassionate liberal, you say, ‘Isn’t it wonderful we’re helping everybody,’ and if you’re a constitutional conservative, you say: ‘How did the government get into all these things? I don’t see these things in the Constitution; it’s bewildering, get rid of it.’ â€
http://rightwingnews.com/economy/just-how-big-is-the-federal-government-over-100-million-checks-sent-out-each-month/
Victims of black lung disease and their widows 50,032 checks
Pensioners supported by the Railroad Retirement Board 613,912
Social Security 56 million checks
veterans benefits 4.5 million checks
non-defense contractors and vendors 1.8 million checks
But those numbers do not include reimbursements to Medicare providers and vendors (100 million claims in June), and electronic transfers to the 21 million households receiving food stamps.
Nor do they include most spending by the Defense Department, which has a payroll of 6.4 million active and retired employees and, on average, pays nearly 1 million invoices and 660,000 travel expense claims per month.
Finally, did I say “100 million†in the headline? If we add them all together, we’re probably looking at 200 million+ “checks†sent out every month. For a population of 311 million.

Ah, thanks to you and thundley4 for clarifying that...I had heard that before somewhere, but it slipped my mind. I was reading through the posts trying to figure out who had stepped on a duck and didn't see anything, I overlooked the thread title itself!
