Source: BBC

1. Explosion in Oslo damages buildings

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/E/EU_NORWAY_EXPLOS...

OSLO, Norway (AP) -- A loud explosion has shattered windows and led to evacuations of office buildings near the government headquarters in downtown Oslo.

An AP reporter says newspaper offices in the area are also damaged and smoke is drifting in the streets. He saw a young man with a bleeding leg being helped away from the area. It wasn't immediately clear whether there were other injuries or exactly where the explosion happened.

2. Reuters refers to "the tangled wreckage of a car was outside one building"

http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/07/22/us-norway-bla...

which increases the chances of a bomb rather than, say, a gas explosion.

Probably registered to one of those Episcopalians or Lutherans.

4. It was a bomb. Saw at least one theory related to some crazy Kurdish mullah Krekar who made threats to the PM as it related to his being deported after being arrested on terrorism charges.

He said, "Norway will pay a heavy price for my death. If, for example, Erna Solberg deports me and I die as a result, she will suffer the same fate."

he said this Tuesday. Pure speculation that the blast is related. Came from Al-Jazeera Europe's site.

14. I'm a Norwegian living in Germany, this is surreal

It can't be a gas explosion, because we don't have a central gas system, and i am almost absolutely sure there are no gas pipes in these buildings.

The building hit is the ministry of oil and energy.

We have been under threat ever since the Muhammed cartoons came out, and a terror cell was uncovered a year ago.

I am worried that this is going to cause serious tensions - Oslo is around 20% islamic.

18. Well...

...the TV reports mentioned fires in the canteen so it sould be bottles, but it would have to be loads of bottles for a blast that big.

17. Who attacks Norway?

I'm hard put to think of a country I'd consider less likely to be the victim of a terror attack.

Especially by Episcopalians or Lutherans.

24. Unfortunately we have a "dual" world personality

We might be a peace brokering nation, but we are also engaged in Afghanistan, we are bombing Libya.

Our government actually apoligized for the mohammed cartoons, however we have been threatened by Al Qaida on and off for a long time. I think we would be a very easy target.

It's the Norwegian ministry of oil and energy, which is facing the administration building of the government.

30. The SV party in the govt coalition wants norway to withdraw from NATO

However, they are a bunch of wimps, who are just sitting quietly i the corner with the Labour party running the government.

They're only in there to stop the right from gaining government power, and they know it.

Their MPs might say things like this sometimes, but it's just to keep their "base" calm to limit damage in the next election.

Some good news photographs at the link above, lots of them, well worth getting out the boat to go over to see.

Outside Northern Ireland, I wonder if anyone with blue eyes has set a car bomb in the past 50 years.

Bill Ayers maybe but it's not car bombs he's into.

After reaching 20%, nations can expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings, and the burnings of Christian churches and Jewish synagogues, such as in:

Ethiopia — Muslim 32.8%

I don't get it - why Oslo Norway?
I just always saw Norway, along with all the other Scandinavia countries, as very peaceful and very progressive. You never hear of Norway repressing their people or causing wars with others. Why would anyone do this?

Maybe the stupid primitive should read the News of Norway.

<<long-time subscriber to the News of Norway.

This, from a comment I made elsewhere yesterday:

Quote
Hmmm.  This reminds me of something.

Today in the mail I received the latest News of Norway, a publication put out by the Royal Norwegian embassies in Washington, D.C. and Ottawa.

In this edition, there's a story about the Norwegian education system, on page 3.

primary school.....the following courses are taught, following the national curriculum: Christian knowledge and religious and ethical education, Norwegian, mathematics, social studies, arts and crafts, science and the environment, English, music, home economics, and physical education.....

One suspects the primitives would have a cow and a half, about that.
