Where there is so much money to be had by all that people have to CHOOSE to be poor.
That's right. If you are born into deep poverty, or slightly above, just work your ass off 16-20 hours a day and you'll be Warren Buffet someday. Anyone can do it.
No don't listen to THE FEDERAL RESERVE BANKwhen they say only a small percentage of people born into poverty manage to even barely get over the poverty line over a course of their entire lives. Or that people born into the lower edges of middle class are quickly slipping into poverty.
Instead listen to the Republican party. You would be so much better off with no legal minimum wage or government safety net. You just quit blowing your $2 an hour wages on luxuries like $1 cheeseburgers for your only meal of the day and entrust it to the rich white guys in the stock market.

Yeah, that's it DUmmie. Why try? You won't make it. Just sit back and vote for the Sugar Daddy that will make it all easy. Did you ever stop to think the reason a lot of those people aren't making it out of the poor house is that the government is their to "help" at every turn. What you call a safety net is more like a gill net. It destroys most of the people caught in it.

Yes, really.
What good is all that money if you can't boss people around and get them to do your dirty work?
While there are civil rights and economic security, people will refuse to play the role of slave.
So...you take away their civil rights (PATRIOT ACT) and their economic security (SS and health care) and they are at your mercy.
Seriously, that's what all this is about.
Social Security will go bankrupt. Those who rely on it are fools. The insurance companies are as good or better than the government. The latest Patriot Act is a Democratic animal. Stuff it, Dummie.

I think many of the people earning a decent wage working for American companies in India would be surprised to learn they are slaves.

FiveGoodMen is right. The rich do want slaves. Kerry, the Kennedys, et al, would love if people just took the gubmint and vote for master. Don't think for yourself, and above all, don't ever get the idea that your situation will improve.

You are not guaranteed to succeed in America, however, I can guarantee the following:
If you see welfare or foodstamps as anything other than temporary evils at best or unconstitutional power grabs by politicians at worst, you are doomed to failure.
If you view Medicare and socialist insecurity as viable sources of financial stability in your golden years, you are destined to be destitute in your old age.

Pursuing happiness does not mean you get to sit back while I work my fingers to the bone, while you sit back and wipe the Cheetos powder off of yours. Who are you, that I should sacrifice the fruits of my labor to feed you and yours who refuse to pursue any type of gainful employment? You complain about working 16-20 hours a day? Most of you balk at working 16-20 hours a week.
I am not rich, and parents were not rich. But I have worked hard ever since I was 15 1/2 for everything I have. The fruits of my labor are evident. I look back at some of my friends and acquaintances from that earlier part of my life who carry the same attitude as you, and I can see that the lack of labor on their part as bore them very little or no fruit.
You DUmmies choose to recline under the tree of success, instead of taking the labors to reach up and pick fruit for yourself. Due to the lack of your labors, you will have to settle for whatever scraps happen to fall to the ground. You should be content and thankful that you even have those paltry fruits.

Stolen from the plagiarist Will Pitt. He determined that the "Third American Empire" began at the end of the USA-USSR hockey game at the 1980 Winter Olympics, when fans chanted "USA! USA!". Pitt was spotting trends before nadin even thought of them.
