Atlantis has landed, ending NASA's shuttle era
Source: Reuters
CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida (Reuters) - The space shuttle Atlantis glided home through a clear moonlit sky on Thursday to complete a 13-day cargo run to the International Space Station and a 30-year odyssey for NASA's shuttle program.
Commander Chris Ferguson gently steered the 100-tonne spaceship high overhead, then nose-dived toward the swamp-surrounded landing strip at the Kennedy Space Center, a few miles (kilometers) from where Atlantis will go on display as a museum piece.
Double sonic booms shattered the predawn silence around the space center, the last time residents will hear the distinctive sound of a shuttle coming home.
Ferguson eased Atlantis onto the runway at 5:57 a.m. EDT, ending a 5.2 million-mile (8.4 million-km) journey and closing a key chapter in human space flight history.

America's manned space program is over.
When a Teabagger is elected in 2016, we will cut off payments to the Russians for rides and America will be Earthbound for a long, long time.
The war on science and progress continues.

2. China is going to the moon.
We're not, and we won't. American space exploration is ending, thanks to religious fanatics who keep forcing their book of fractured fairy tales on us.
What the DUchebags fail to mention is that our space program is going into the private market, much to my personal objection for safety reasons. If there are anyone who has been more against this it is the left. Look around the DUmp and ye shall find excuses like "Money can be better spent then a useless space program." or "feed the poor not going to space"

Do they ever get tired of sounding like idiots? seriously, do they have any idea how dumb they sound? I have a hard time discerning if idiotic comments like the 1 above are said by people who really believe that or are said by people who are moles trying to make them look bad.

More projectile spewing from the DUmp. Their prize shithead killed the space program to pay for more vote-buying entitlements, not W.

I think the primitives really believe it.
This doesn't sound like any mole operation to me.
I think the primitives really honestly seriously believe it.

I don't think they do. I guess they don't understand that the space program's locations are scattered all over "Jesusland" in places like Huntsville, Al, Houston, Tx., and Cape Canaveral, Fl.

What amazes me is all those DUmp posts about the Constellation program being a "waste of money". Obama got rid of it.

And Schmuck Schumer's comments about Houston's not getting one of the orbiters to display were appalling.

I think the next mission should be to the sun. All you have to do is offer the dummies cheetos, pot or both as payment and let them go on the new solar missions I'm purposing.

Well where the heck are they in real life? I take it they don't spew this nonsense in public because they know they'd be the object of ridicule?

Of course they do, and that's why regular Democrats and my fellow alum Skins really wish they'd stay inside of Skins's island, so as to not be an embarrassment.
It occurs to me the primitives are very similar with the jerks on the sexual-offenses registry. I had been curious why so many of them, after serving their sentences, returned to their old home places, when the rational decision would be moving to someplace where they're not known.
I was told it was because they have no sense of shame or embarrassment.
Well, that's the similarity between the primitives and these other jerks.

Have you never read one of their "Holiday dinner with my disgusting RePuke reliktives" threads...?

You have to land at night, otherwise it's too hot. :-)

Wow, don't generalize much, do they?
-
I thought the DUmmies had their own space program going...hell, they stay spaced out all the time, don't they?

Yes, and I always side with the Republicans in their families LOL.

So the big Zero cancels the next space program back when the Dems controlled congress and the Senate and somehow it the fault of religious fanatic, Bush and Republicans? :mental:

Apparently.
At least according to the primitives.
-
I know. I'm having a disconnect. Think I'll row over and see if there's a clue.
ETA: Nope, not a clue. They are very sad and are blaming Bush. :mental:

It's doable. Land at night.

The waste of skin people that inhabit the DUmp seem to forget that NASA is the ONLY government agency that has given back money and technology to the taxpayer. I'm betting ACORN can't say that

Yup, typing on some of it right now.......

Didn't Bush advocate newer spaceships that would get us back to the moon and eventually to Mars? Didn't the muslim change NASA's purpose to one of out reach to a backward culture? I'm glad to see DU's war on reality continues unabated.

Yep, the Constellation Project. They hated it.

As I said before, everyone is trying to out stupid beth. Their lord and savior 0 killed the space program. Why are they trying to blame it on all of the Muslims?

Seriously, when I was in high school in the early 60's, the space program was just gearing up. I think I had read every science fiction book in our school library....I know I read all the ones with anything about space, space travel and far away planets etc.. Being a teenager and playing with gas powered model airplanes had peeked my interest in all things above the ground. I remember thinking that by the year 2,000 I would be 55 years old and surely by then a man would have been to Mars and back. We are farther away from Mars now than we were then.... :bawl:
Until a man puts a foot print on it and throws down an empty beer can or two it ain't been explored.

No you idiot dummy. We are not exploring space anymore so we can use the money to feed, clothe, house, and give free cell phones to parasites like yourself. Ya all want to fund NASA? Fine... I agree. Let's fund them out of the welfare money budgeted for you parasites.

Well, Joe Bacon, America is going to boldly go to hell in a handbasket because of government tit suckers like you.

You are correct sir. It is now a question of priorities. Does this nation fund a bunch of parasites or does this nation fund a space exploration program. Last I looked, on some balance the budget site back in 2003/4/5, we spent well over 350 billion on welfare alone. There is a reason that Europe hasn't made it to the moon.
I fear for the future of what was once the best country in the world.
