Former US President Jimmy Carter accused Secretart Rice about not telling the truth about warnings that she said that her department gave Carter not to speak to Hamas before a Middle East Trip.
He goes on to say in the article that .he isn't calling her a liar, but she did lie about this
This is just outright sticking the fingers in the ears and saying "Ican't hear you.....I can't hear you"

4. Here are the first 4 paragraphs...
ATLANTA — Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter on Wednesday accused Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice of not telling the truth about warnings she said her department gave Carter not to speak to Hamas before a Middle East trip.
The State Department has said U.S. Assistant Secretary of State David Welch, the top U.S. diplomat for the Middle East, issued the warning before Carter, a veteran of Middle East diplomacy, went on his trip last week.
Rice said in Kuwait on Tuesday: "We counseled President Carter against going to the region and particularly against having contact with Hamas."
"President Carter has the greatest respect for ... Rice and believes her to be a truthful person. However, perhaps inadvertently, she is continuing to make a statement that is not true," a statement issued by the Carter center in Atlanta said on Wednesday.

There was no way Carter was going to do something that controversial without State Department knowledge and approval. He's way past the age where he's interested in gallivanting around trying to hotdog diplomacy.
I'm astonished by the naivety of some of the posters on DU.
Perhaps Spoiled Rice simply wasn't notified by the rest of the State Department. It's not like she's actually being allowed to approve or veto anything there any more.

19. Even when he was President he was honest to a fault, maybe too honest
When he sent in the choppers to try to rescue the Iranian hostages, and the chopper went down, the man got on TV and took the entire blame onto himself. He said something like it was my decision and it turned out poorly. Can you imagine * doing anything like that?
Oh **** you :bird: :bird: You cannot rewrite history. That rescue operation was FUBAR from the get go and mostly because of his dumb ass

The definition of useful idiot is … Update: Video added, and Hamas punks him twice
http://hotair.com/archives/2008/04/21/the-definition-of-useful-idiot-is/
Jimmy Carter may have aged considerably since his years at the helm of foreign policy, but that doesn’t excuse his latest debacle; he was just as clueless 30 years ago as he proved himself to be this week. Carter had everything but Neville Chamberlain’s umbrella as he returned with a supposed agreement by Hamas to recognize Israel and accede to a peace deal negotiated by Mahmoud Abbas and approved by referendum. However, Hamas immediately pulled the rug out from under Carter, exposing his idiocy:
Obama finally answers question about Carter and Hamas

“As I said before I think it was a bad idea for president Carter to meet with Hamas without having recognized Israel or denounced terrorism or acknowledged previous agreements given that they are not heads of state,†he told a Pittsburgh press conference.
“To sit down with them, I think it gave them a legitimacy that was unnecessary.â€â€¦

State Department opposes Carter meeting with Hamas chief
http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2008/04/state-departmen.html
The State Department it's not in the U.S. government's interest for former President Jimmy Carter to meet with the exiled leader of Hamas during an upcoming visit to Syria.
"U.S. government policy is that Hamas is a terrorist organization and we don't believe it is in the interests of our policy or in the interests of peace to have such a meeting," State Department spokesman Sean McCormack tells reporters.
A spokeswoman for Carter wouldn't comment on reports that he plans to meet with Khaled Mashaal.
"The schedule is still being firmed up, so I cannot confirm or deny speculation of any specific meetings that might take place," Deanna Congileo, the Democrat's press secretary, writes in an e-mail.
Hamas says the meeting is scheduled for April 18. Mohammed Nazzal, a senior Hamas member, tells the wire service that Carter asked for the meeting and says his group "welcomed the request," according to AP.

Rice Criticizes Carter for Reported Meeting Planned With Hamas
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice criticized former President Jimmy Carter on Friday for his plans to meet in Syria with the leader of the Palestinian group Hamas during a trip next week to the Middle East.
Rice, speaking to reporters in Washington, affirmed that Hamas is a terrorist organization that has been unwilling to "come into line with international standards concerning the Middle East."
She then blamed Hamas for a coup against the Palestinian Authority and said, "I find it hard to understand what is going to be gained by having discussions with Hamas about peace when Hamas is, in fact, the impediment to peace."
Rice's comments come a day after a State Department spokesman said Carter's meeting with senior Hamas officials would not be "in the interest of peace."
Carter originally was slated to travel throughout the Mideast with a group of statesmen and philanthropists including Kofi Annan, the former secretary-general of the United Nations, but Carter now will be traveling without the group.
FOXNews.com first reported Tuesday on an item in the Arabic-language newspaper Al-Hayat that said Carter was preparing an unprecedented meeting with Khaled Meshal, the exiled head of Hamas who lives in Damascus.
A senior Hamas official confirmed reports of the meeting Thursday, according to the Associated Press.
