Charles Hurt hits it pretty good here.
HURT: Welcome to Jimmy Carter’s 2nd term
By Charles Hurt

The Washington Times
ANALYSIS/OPINION:
It has taken three decades, but Americans are finally living through Jimmy Carter’s second term.
Now we’ve got Jimmy Jr. barking at us from the White House about eating our peas and ripping off our Band-Aid. He might not even let us have our Social Security checks.
These are just the latest in a long line of nagging lectures. Already, we have been taught how we should sneeze into the crook of our arm. We need to drive less. And we need to caulk up those drafty houses of ours.
What ever happened to the soaring rhetoric and big bold ideas President Obama promised us in that historic election of his?
Is this what he meant by a new kind of politics? If so, no thanks. Oh, and it is not new. Jimmy already dragged us through all this once and we just barely survived it.
The rest is here:

I wonder if we'll see it on RedState and on Townhall? My guess is yes.

Well, there is one big difference between then and now...this time we're all racists.

And this time its permanent.

I sure hope to God we don't see Jimmy getting a third term.

In 1979, Carter told people in the northeast to put on a sweater. Back then, heating oil was about 70 cents a gallon.
Today, it's $3.50 a gallon. Obumbles doesn't HAVE to tell us to put on a sweater, we do it anyway because we sure as shit can't afford the heat.
-
Haven't a lot of us been saying that since 0bama was elected? :banghead:
-
"We" had to elect it .. to see whats inside.
-
Even worse than Carter since the recession could go on for some time.

This is what I was referring to as permanent.
With Carter we had a misery index we were able to grow out of with proper leadership (Reagan).
This time the agenda, regulations, laws etc., are being implemented to be forever, if not reversed in this next election.
Not slowed down ... but reversed.
If we get Romney or Huntsman we are screwed. They are not marxists but they will not reverse anything of substance.
-
Carter actually popularized the misery index to use against Ford, only to watch his socialist policies push it up and be used against him by Reagan. Someone (come on Herman Cain, you can do it!) needs to make sure that the GOP nominee starts running that one again, using the same calculations Jimmah used back then. I read somewhere that it's higher now than when Jimmah was in office.

Yeah, and unfortunately inflating your tires won't work for this.

Went from $3.60 to $4.00 overnight here.

But the way the official unemployment numbers has been changed since Carter. They should use the same calculations.
