We were out late last night at my older son's baseball game (was a re-schedule, due to rain), but man, what a great game it was! I'm so proud of him, he's doing great this year...hitting up a storm and making some great defensive plays. Unfortunately, I don't have any pics to share, because SBLL is STUPID and has tarps over the fences running the baselines, and the only place you can watch the game is from the outfield!
Today I need to get through some laundry, as my daughter and I are going out of town tomorrow for a few days, to a dance festival in Charleston. I'm hoping Mr Flame doesn't mind me taking the laptop with me, so I don't get too bored during the days!
Weather is finally spring-like, consistantly, so I'm loving it!

I'm loving the weather too, Flame. It is consistently spring(almost summer like) here as well. Aaaaahhhhh! LOL
Congrats on your boy. He sounds like he's really doing well this year.
TOTD: Probably the in season fruits. Starting to get really good cantaloupe now and berries.

Oh, what a beautiful morning, oh, what a glorious morning!
I think I should do some house-cleaning today, but am not sure if it'll happen.
It's more of a "routine" thing than a necessary thing.
I'm sort of wondering where to hang two jobs I recently had custom-framed, as the place is like a portrait gallery as it is, circa 150 custom-framed things covering the walls of the public rooms, and even more in the private rooms.
Kings and queens and princes and princesses and other prominents of England, from back when painters knew how to paint; peasant artwork from the socialist paradises of the workers and peasants, and Native American artwork from authentic Native Americans, famous people I've met in real life, Clare Booth Luce and Henry R. Luce (above the bed), Ned Lamont (above the tank of the commode in the bathroom), and of course the obligatory ones of the ancestors and siblings.
However, these two are different; they're things of franksolich; I hope God forgives my vanity--a silhouette made of me when I was seven years old, and a cartoon-caricature of me as a socialist laborer drawn by a guy in Kiev, Ukraine, using stubs of colored chalk.
The catnip on the William Rivers Pitt is already, in many places, more than 6" high; I don't know what the other lush luxuriant green foliage is, until it gets bigger.
As for "favorite spring/summer food," because the hot weather in Nebraska wreaks havoc on the body, usually I just take a bunch of fruit--apples, oranges, pineapple, peaches, pears, whatnot--or a bunch of vegetables--tomato juice, carrots, peas, corn, celery, whatnot--and send them through the blender, with a whole lot of ice. Either makes a great liquid nutrient.

I'm floating on cloud nine, as I received further proof that my oldest girl is a genius. She was nominated to get an outstanding student award for her grade at a local AAA baseball game. Ok, she's only in kindergarten, but we're still thrilled. She'll meet the team, get her picture up on the giant screen, and (her favorite part) get a free hot dog and soda. She's read books in front of her class, and even in front of the principal. :-)
She's a chip of the ol' block. I used to get sent to the principal's office all the time, but for slightly different reasons. :uhsure: :-)

It's overcast, been raining for three straight days (about 2 inches a day) :banghead:

It's overcast here, but the temperature is pleasant.
TOTD: My favorite spring food would be strawberries. In recent weeks, I've discovered a strawberry field here, and they have only recently come into season. I don't have class on Friday (nor do I have to work), so I may head that way and pick some myself. :wink:

Hello all!
So yesterday was the last day for our night receptionist of 3 weeks. Oh, how I'll miss her. :whatever: She's the most irresponsible 40 year old I know. She's got 3 kids at home, divorced and yet managed to call in once or twice a week when she was here.
Anywho, the boss is out of the country until May 6th, but this girl that used to work as a cashier in the parts/service dept is coming in to work as contract labor for a couple/three weeks. w00t! Everyone's going to be super nice to her and hopefully she'll stay on over here.
My dad is getting all set up in his little efficiency hotel room. He's staying at Untown Suites, and it's not too shabby. He supposed to go by his old apartment complex this week and see if he finds an apartment he likes. His crazy wife has not called me or stopped by my house. *phew*
All in all, it's a pretty good day.
TOTD: I like all the fresh fruit of the summer, melons and strawberries and most especially home grown tomatoes with a dash of salt & pepper. :)

Temp was in the low 80's yesterday. 'Bout friggin' time. Everything is growing/blooming, so I have plenty of yardwork to keep me out of trouble...mostly. :-)

It's strawberry season... $2 per pound. I'm enjoying it while it lasts. :)

I need to get off my butt and head down TN-231 to some of the pick-your-own berry farms down there. Blueberries and raspberries freeze pretty good for baking later in the year. I have a recipe for a hazelnut berry crumble that you can use with frozen berries.

My last trip to Lowes was with my son and his family.
While they and the baby strolled around getting what they needed I took my grandson to the garden section. Keep in mind that he's 4, so to me, everything is a learning experience to share with him.
... plus, I had a captive audience!
Memaw has always had a green thumb and a passionate love for growing all types of plants.
We 1st stopped at a "pond" they had set up and pitched a few pennies into it. I told him it was for good luck and to make a wish on each penny. Too cute! Next we checked out the bedding plants, getting him to pronounce his favorites and what color they were.
He loves strawberries so I showed him the plants they had. One happened to be in bloom so I explained that the pretty flower would one day soon be a berry. He was fascinated but I'm not sure if he equated this plant with the berries he gets at the grocery store.
The highlight of our "tour" was the herb section. I showed him how to gently rub the leaves between his fingers and enjoy their fragrance. We then talked about what each one was used for.
