Mass. city to pay wedded gay workers to offset tax

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—When the city of Cambridge issues paychecks to its public employees, nearly two dozen workers find a federal tax on their income that their colleagues don't have to pay.
Like many people, these 22 school and city workers chose to put their spouses on their employer-provided health insurance. Because they're in a homosexual relationship, the value of that health coverage is considered taxable income by the federal government.
But starting this month, Cambridge will become what is believed to be the first municipality in the country to pay its public employees a stipend in an attempt to defray the cost of the federal tax on health benefits for their same-sex spouses.

Cambridge just received the results of (surprise) a new tax increase - 0.75% increase on the restaurant tax. It came to about $5 million, just about how much is needed to cover this little feel-good gesture.
Cambridge is a special little place. There is a town manager who actually runs the business of government, leaving the elected officials free to do things like opine on Libya, gay rights, and other weighty matters.

OMG-- I love this idea.
I have yet to talk this over with Hubby but this may mean a large increase in salary for him.
First we need to get a divorce, then Hubby need to go to his boss and announce he is GAY.
As such he wants more money as he has no partner to help with the income. He now insits ts on wearing woman's clothing and sues to get his own bathroom.
Makeup is no problem as I can do him up every day as we still live together.
True that the company that he has worked for for 25 years and I myself put in 22 years may be taken back at this new state of affairs, but what the Hell we have more then a few Gays working there for over 20 years.
So Hubby can now demand a big raise, because he says he is Gay. A new bathroom just for himself and any time he messes up on the job Yell discrimination.-----
Had a supervisor that did that, to get rid of her the company had to give her 18 months salary, pay her medical insurance and 6 months later she married a man.

Sorry there is no advantage to being a white male/ female in the big time corporate field.
Some advantage in the jobs that pay minimun wage, but when it comes to the big time money anything goes.
Company's who need either skilled workers or professionals look for the best, the most educated or to be educated they can find. When one has the right stuff, company's will pay for your education, the employee may have to work at just above minimun wage but the Company's will pay for higher education for those willing to work a full day and go to school at night. Once a degree is earned the employee needs to OK a contract to work at the company for at least 5 years at a salary that is 10 times what they received when they first started.
Few company's today give a shit if their Lawyers or MBA's are black, white or Asian, they want results for the salary they pay them.
My Company gave scholarships to workers kids that were outstanding in their studies with no contracts or ties to the kids, they graduated and went where ever they wished to.
There are companys that send workers to trade schools for education in the trades, heating, Cooling, Electricians and Plumbers.
Companys are looking down into the employees that can benifit the company. Those that may be very computer savy without a high school education, woman that may be able to learn good office skills and become supervisors of traffating and is well spent.
This is Money baby, to educate anyone from any place can make big bucks for the company. Some big companys recrute the teens that hack to computers to head up their securiety branch--who knows the now adult only has an 8th. grade formal education.
Any company that hires on race will fall in 2 months, got to look for protential candates to make a go of the Company.
Sad to say the white male that can benifit and grow is way behind the other races when it comes to potential, More people that have been raised in horrid curcumstances will be all to ready to sacrifice fun and games then the born American kids that never had to lift a finger to survive.
American whites and blacks have the same problem, they are willing to live on the government and augment money illegally then work or study for the future.
