We need to get rid of Capitalism
Its not working....have you noticed? It works fine for those with wealth and power. Who died and made the wealthy better than others?
We have a monetary system working against each other the capitalist and the worker. When a system destroys human life as the capitalist system has done and is doing, it is time to get rid of it. To require a person to educate and produce and then have no employment that meets common human needs as our nation is experiencing now is downright evil.

Wonderful idea! Let's shitcan the system that made this country so prosperous in 235 short years. Let's replace it with a system that we are watching as it destroys all of Europe.
What these idiots don't realize is, that the more we regulate and control the economy, the more it inhibits that economy from growing.
When capitalism is allowed to work then the country prospers, even China for Pete's sake has moved slightly towards capitalism and they are starting to overtake us on the world's stage.

Look here's the deal. A well regulated capitalism was a step up from feudalism, but IT NEVER COULD BE THE SYSTEM THAT WAS ETERNAL! There are WAY too many internal inconsistencies and unfairness involved in capitalism for it to work forever. And at it's base it relied on continous expansion. We don't live in an infinite world, so at some point, IT HAD TO BECOME OBSOLETE and even dangerous. It's there. Time to take the next step.
So lemme get this straight, capitalism was good enough to build the country we have now, but now we need to move away from what has brought our success. Honestly what do you think we will do when not only the govt is broke, but every citizen is broke as well? You can only tax the rich up to 100% anything more would be impossible.

32. The OP didn't actually specify what should happen in its place
so it may not be socialism. After all, socialism has never been tried in the United States.
Umm your president is trying socialism as we speak, and it's done wonders for our economy. :whatever:

5. And what's your plan to do that? How is it that people are Updated at 3:36 PM
going to get food? Where will they work? There are 300+ million people in this country. Before you get rid of something, you're going to need something else ready to step in immediately, or the suffering, misery, and death will be horrible to behold.
And, no, people can't just plant a backyard garden. That is not a solution.
For pete's sake. Think for a moment.
The OP hasn't thought that far ahead. The whole plan is:
1 Tax the rich
2 Tax the rich some more
3 ??????
4 Teh winner!!!!!11111

13. Exactly. We've always been a mix of socialism and capitalism.
We used to use taxes to level the playing field between those that are overpaid and those who are underpaid. We don't do that anymore.
In other words you want to use taxation to punish those, you deem over paid.

Russia, of necessity, went from feudalism to an attempt at socialism. It MIGHT have worked too after a few decades of socialist accumulation, but between capitalist sanctions, the civil war, other wars, and bureaucratic overreach after Lenin's death and Trotsky's exile, it was a VERY hard row to hoe. Also, if Europe had followed in the footsteps of the Bolshevik Revolution, it could have been guided into a true socialism by the other more developed countries of Europe. That also didn't happen.
Marx envisioned socialism as a system to FOLLOW capitalism, as you said. A way to solve the inequities of capitalism after capitalism had done it's job of developing the means to assure ENOUGH for everybody. Socialism would be the means to DISTRIBUTE that "enough" TO everybody without the elites hoarding it all to themselves.
We're there. Capitalism has done it's job. Now it's time to distribute what we have fairly.
In other words you want the govt to take what other people have earned, and give it to you.
The other thing that blows me away is all through this thread they say "The govt needs to regulate capitalism" do these idiots really think for one second that the govt isn't already regulating the hell out of everyone?
They really can not see the connection, the more we regulate the worse (or worst according to Nadin) things get.

I hate to inform the DUchebag bit the socialist have been in charge since January 2007...about a year before they caused the shit to hit the fan.

"When a system destroys human life as the capitalist system has done and is doing"...
Apparently this jackwagon has no clue how many were systematically murdered by the likes of Josef Stalin, Mao Tse Tung, and Pol Pot, just to name a few of them. Hitler had nothing on them.
Sure, O.K., let's get rid of this evil capitalism. I have no motivation, no ingenuity, no desire, no will, no spirit and no heart to dare risk anything in the pursuit of success. I want to be told by some kommissar what my lot in life shall be, as best it serves the glorious revolution. I want to be told where to live, to have that given to me. I want to be told what my limit of education shall be, and trust that all I am taught is the righteous truth of the glorious people's history. I want to be told where and where not I may travel and when I may and may not go. I want to be told how many children I may have and where to send them to school. Yes, comrade, let us throw off the stifling yoke of capitalism. I can no longer bear the subjugation and indignation!

Newsflash, libtard: that's what capitalism is. It ensures that those of us who work hard and play by the rules get a chance at making a lot of money. It also ensures that lazy whiners remain mired in their victimhood with no shot at being anything more than Internet sideshows.

Stargazer99, since you admit that capitalism does work for people with wealth and power, why not allow more people to accumulate wealth and be empowered? Just a little tinkering around the edges instead of scrapping the entire system.

This Dumb****, like about 99.99999999% of them, hasn't thought about the reaction of those who don't exactly subscribe to his interpretation of the tea leaves. Go ahead, DUmb****s, and try it. Pitchforks against firearms. Should be an exciting time for a few seconds. :fuelfire:

Just like the DUmmies....kill and eat the goose that laid the golden egg...then beotch when there is no free gold for them, no eggs and no goose to eat.
Why don't the DUmmies boycott the government? ...not take another damn dime?

Wait, 1917-1989 is north of EIGHT DECADES. Is a few more than eight? DUring those EIGHT DECADES the evil capitali....socialists did manage to off almost 120 million peopl...citizens and made hundreds of millions more miserable.
Capitalism, worst system ever devised.... except for all the others.

Hell yeah, look at those great successes with other systems, like North Korea and Venezuela!

I'm going to go off topic a bit so forgive me in advance, but at what point does a person become classified as an evil rich person to the dummies?

If they wear a suit and tie to work and drive a Lincoln.

BALONEY...or BALOGNA for the spelling police....if you have one thin dime more than the poorest DUmmie, you may be one of the evil rich.

Pretty much any person that makes more than they do, is classified as evil rich.

I stand corrected. If you've got something that they'd have to work for to have for themselves--you might be evil rich. How's that?

I'll explain it to you in away that might hit a little home as, IIRC, you live in one of the maritime provinces. Take Beaufort, SC, Dutch Harbor, AK, or the lobster boats up in your neck of the woods if they worked off the same tax structure as we do. Many times the captain of the boat is the owner of his boat and a small business owner. He might pay himself 150K per year, but his income taxes at the end of the year might add up to 1 million per year. Where did the rest go you may ask? Well, say he has 6 other employees also busting their asses on the boat with him that he's paying 60K per year (more or less depending on experience). That's 510K. Oh, but what do we do about the other 490K? Well, there are other expenses as well that he has to account for (Accountant, secretary, boat slip, etc). So, to a DUmbass, that captain, who makes more than the rest of the crew due to him being the one that bears ALL responsibility and has the boat in his name but busts his ass just like the rest is one of those "evil rich" people. Small business owners file all of their business's income as personal income.
DUmmies don't do logic, Compaq. When they think of evil rich they automatically think of some Bill Gates type sipping on Mai Tais in his mansion next to Lake Washington. Those guys are a VERY minute number in comparison to our population and I would bet my house that Gates works 10 ****in' TIME harder than your average DUmmie. You could also confiscate ALL wealth of the Bill Gates of the country and still not close to touching even 10% of our national debt.
No, it has nothing to do with any desire to cure our debt problem. It has to do with jealousy by a bunch of lazy ****s too Damn stupid to make it on their own. People who should have probably never left home because they are unfit and incapable to make it in the real world. Did you see that f'n lamp?
We don't have a revenue problem; we have a spending problem. IIRC, revenue has increased by 20% in the past 10 years while spending has increased 60%. It ain't rocket science.

Moron, free market capitalism is the fairest system there is. You sit on your arse and whine, you starve. What could be fairer? The fact that you are still alive proves we aren't living in a free market system anymore. First think. Then think about what I wrote. Then think about your own miserably, whiny existence.
Then come to the only conclusion available: you don't hate capitalism, you hate yourself and you hate being alive. You are simply another in a long line of over-intellectualizes existence haters. You cling to Marx because he is the same as you.
