Introducing the GERMS floor lamp, V1.0...

...the prototype yet to be perfected, but which is about 95% there:
(followed by a few pictures of said floor lamp)
Designed and built by me (with a little help from a coupla friends), shade/head fabricated and hand painted by GERMS.
Edited for typo.
I'm not going to try to describe this floor lamp, but you have to see it.

Being totally hand built from almost nothing. Which took two months.
However, it would be somewhat problematic to exactly reproduce it using all of the same materials where it would actually look like the example, (likely things would be different, such as the "pleather" tentacles), so, effectively, it would be a variation on the original, in itself, a "one-of-a-kind." Chances are it would be somewhat better than the original. Hopefully.
But I was not really planning on reproducing this version, I am looking into the cost of fabricating the "tentacle base" out of hand carved, gilded teak, in Thailand, by my friend who does Mark Ryden's frames.
This version would be issued in an edition size of 10-20.

Really neat though, and worth the money for the effort that clearly went into it, and for the plain old coolness factor.

$80 an hour works out to right around a 40 hour week for $3000 gross. Does anyone know if DUmmie GReedDiamond has been soliciting the DUmp with job offers to build lamps?

Ding Ding! Liberals never recognize hypocrisy. He/she should have been called out for outsourcing to Thailand. Mrs Obama can take her children, mother, and extended family to Africa, spend $900,000 of our taxpayer money and no one blinks.
