She was maybe a tad bit too liberal to suit me, but hey, compared with most Democrat First Ladies, especially the last three, even Mary Todd Lincoln was a saint.

She had a lot of bad hands dealt her way. Kept her head up the whole time.

A lot of families are living a productive union because of her efforts.

God bless her.

The courage to face diversity and speaking truthfully...we certainly need that now.

Rest in Peace Mrs. Ford

That is saying something.  From what I've read, she was interesting to live with.

Yes indeed, and she educated the masses that alcoholism was not just a man's problem.

God love her.

She shone a bright light that still lives on through her clinic!  http://www.bettyfordcenter.org/index.php

She battled personal demons in public and others benefited from it.  I held her in esteem.

RIP Mrs. Ford, you've earned it.

That's a cool dress.  She looks like she could be a character on Star Trek.  1970's fashion.
Wow, I must be getting old.  I just popped over to Wiki to check out the Fords to refresh my memory and I clicked on daughter Susan and found out she looks kind of old now--we're about the same age.  She was such a foxy lady during their years in the White House.
Rest in peace, Mrs. Ford.

Amen to that! Addiction was very stigmatizing until Betty Ford.

Amen to that! Addiction was very stigmatizing until Betty Ford.

Addiction was very shameful until she spoke out.  ESPECIALLY shameful for women.

I'm sure she and her clinic and ideas have turned many, many lives around and still does with her clinic.

Thanks, Betty -  RIP.
