Why don't repubs let Obama raise taxes? (as a campaign strategy)
Edited on Fri Jul-08-11 12:05 PM by JackintheGreen
No, I'm serious. They LOVE running against taxes. Wouldn't they just love to run against a sitting president who raised taxes? It's not like they give their constituents any credit at all for being able to discern taxing the rich vs. taxing the poor. They could flood the airwaves with ads saying that Obama raised taxes with scary music and superimposed devil horns and stuff. They seem to do everything else with an eye towards running against the president, so why not this? It seems to me if they want to rile up the base "Obama raised your taxes" is a better message to run on than "We didn't let Obama raise your taxes."

It feels like I'm missing something. Maybe I'm giving them too much credit. Or too little?

Here's a better question.  Why didn't the Democratics simply pass a budget last year when they were supposed to AND they could've passed anything they wanted.  Hmmmm  can you answer that one?

US Constitution, Article I, Section 8

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States

All spending and taxation starts in the House of Representatives, you infantile pillock, therefore it would be pointless to run campaign ads about hussein raising taxes when he doesn't have the power to do so in the first damn place!

9. There are examples of taxes being raised without harming the economy
There are no examples (that I'm aware of anyway) of taxes being cut without harming the economy. In fact, quite the contrary.

I can't take the stupidity in that thread.  My brain is leaking out.

Truth.

Mainly because the sane people that were responsible for the tsunami last NOvember would start a third party and the republicans will go the way of the Whigs.

What's the matter, his current policies don't have unemployment going up fast enough to suit you?

Huh?

Well, the primitive must not be aware, then.

In fact, the primitive must be either comatose or brain-dead.

I want to see the 48 percent or so that pay no fed income taxes get their taxes raised. I want to see welfare, medicaid, HUD, etc taxed as income too. Most of all I want to see a tax only on liberals since they always want to raise them.

Do that first and then we will discuss raising taxes on everybody else.

Me either so I'll stop here. I'm not sure how to reply to that kind of stupid.
