I don't want dollar for dollar match of "pain and sacrifice"
I want a % match.
If I have to give up something that will ultimately affect 35% of my lifetime assets...I want the Rockefellers to give up 35% of their lifetime assets.
If that isn't done...then it isn't even close to shared sacrifice.
I'm like a kid in a candy store. Top DUmmies coming out of the wood work.

I bet Sen Jay Rockefeller (D) doesn`t agree.
-
The Rockefellers are Democrats now, and have been so for at least a generation.
Maybe the penis-examiner on Skins's island is too dense to know that.
-
Well Horse with no brain I bet those evil rich people you constantly piss and moan about have lost 35% and higher during their lifetime.
The difference is when they lose money they get off their butts and go make more. You on the other hand sit there with your hand held out waiting for it to be filled. How about depending on yourself instead of begging for bills off of 0bama's stash?

So, Horse with no Name like the idea of a flat tax ? I'm down.. because that will end the +- 47% who pay nothing.

6. ... either make sure that everyone has financial security, or take away ALL the rich's money and make them live paycheck to paycheck like the rest of us.
Whoops, there goes the paycheck. Now you're living on dirt.

Dear Horse's Ass:
I'm a middle-class American.
I pay about 23 percent of my income in federal taxes.
I pay 7.65 percent to SS/Medicare taxes. When you throw my employer's match in with that, it becomes 15.3 percent.
I don't have state income taxes, lucky me, but I do pay very high property taxes and vehicle taxes. Last year it came out to about 6 percent of my income.
So I'll make you a deal, ****stick. When you contribute 44.3 percent of YOUR income to the government, THEN you can bitch. Until then, **** off.

There is just something immoral as hell about that to me.

Figure it out for yourself with your own income and "deductions".
If you're not kicking out the base of your desk after you see the final answer, well, I'm glad you can afford it, my friend.

I think you misread my post. I was saying there is something immoral about having to pony up 40+ percent of one's income just to hand it over to the government to dole out to everyone else. K and I paid over 80K just in state and federal taxes last year. That's not including property and ad valorum taxes. Why the hell are Americans having to essentially work a half of a f'n year for free?

Sorry, didn't phrase it correctly. I know your income is far higher than mine and as such you feel an even greater level of pain than do I, and the fact that a working schlub like me should work until sometime in June before it becomes "my" money for the year is somehow just, well, WRONG, especially when the DUmmies have no concept of that level of sacrifice, or if they do, simply quit and expect those of us left struggling in the water to hold up the raft while they rest comfortably.

I'm at 35%, and I'm about as middle-income as you can get.

Not really the income, it's the percentage that I have a huge problem with. No American should be forced to pay over 1/4 to 1/5th of their income into taxes. Our founders would be firing up the revolution machine again if they were still around. BTW, you and I are probably around the same in income. It's the wife who's ballin'.

During the Dark Ages and medieval times, the "average" serf gave 33% of his labor and products to his owner.
During the Roman era and in the slave-holding states here circa 1700-1865, the "average" slave gave 50% of his labor and products to his owner, after deductions for his upkeep.
It looks to me as if many here are already in between being a serf and a slave, and this is a democracy.....

I think that all those liberal not for profit NGOs should start paying taxes.
I think that all the union dues should be subject to a 30% tax.
I think that if you are on assistance you should get bulk beans, rice, and cheese not a card to buy steak and lobster.
I think that if you are on assistance you should live in a communal situation and not get $1k/month for your own house on Section 8.
I think that unless you are disabled, you should not get more than a year of public assistance.
I think that public employees should pay 15% into their retirement plans and none should be defined benefit ones and no COLAs.
I think that Public employees should retire at the same ages as the people that pay for them and only get social security.
I think that public employees should have to pay 20% of the health insurance costs.
I think prevailing wages for all public works should be ended.
I think there should be tort reform and that loser should pay.
Implementing these would solve all of the states fiscal problems and go very far on the federal governments.
I think

Don't forget, the 55.7% that you get to take home is what the jug-eared muslim calls "spending within the tax code".
