Bill Clinton: GOP Voting Crackdown Worst Since Jim Crow Updated at 7:33 PM

Former President Bill Clinton weighed in on Republican efforts in several states to pass new restrictions on voting, comparing the measures to the Jim Crow laws of the past.
"There has never been in my lifetime, since we got rid of the poll tax and all the Jim Crow burdens on voting, the determined effort to limit the franchise that we see today," Clinton said in a speech at a Campus Progress conference in Washington.
He specifically called out Florida Governor Rick Scott (R) for trying to reverse past precedent and prevent convicted felons from voting even after they've completed their sentence.
"Why should we disenfranchise people forever once they've paid their price?" Clinton said. "Because most of them in Florida were African Americans and Hispanics who tended to vote for Democrats. That's why."

5. Scott's also drug-testing welfare applicants
But Felon Scott is not a racist??
Scott is a textbook example of an elitist and racist.
That truth needs to be spread in Florida.
The truth is you are a racist for making the assumption that only black people are on welfare, and only black folks smoke reefer.

Hey Bubba, any guy that looks as women as only a potential blow job can stfu about moral outrage over a made up issue.

anti-felon + anti-welfare + anti-drug = racist???

OK I agree with the bolded. Once you pay your debt to society, you should be allowed to vote. I think a better method is to make it so if you pay taxes, retired senior citizens are exempt of course, then you can vote. Otherwise, you can't. You should have skin in the game.
Flame away and bitch slap me until I am silly. Don't care. If you did your time and paid your debt to society, and become a productive citizen, then you should be able to vote. :fuelfire:

Jail time doesn't necessarily make a felon square with society. For instance, they can't legally own a firearm. They're required to admit being a convicted felon every time they try to apply for work. They're automatically disqualified from many jobs, including most well-paying jobs. Convicted sex offenders may serve only a few years, but are now punished much more severely after being released from prison. Continuing sanctions against felons, who have proven themselves to be the dregs of society, are nothing new. It helps protect the decent majority from the savages among us. I don't think spending a few years behind bars makes a released criminal suddenly decent and civilized, entitled to every privilege, freedom and right. I'm sure the ACLU and the democrat party don't agree, but so far common sense has prevailed.

What I find most interesting is all the leftist hubris is doing NOTHING to stop the voter ID movement.
They can bring out the big guns (Clinton), and can play the race card...and the GOP isn't backing down.
Of course, this is the Tea Party's fault. Democrats are used to Republicans backing down. I sure hope this new blood can save the party. I do not want to abandon it to the RINOs.

wow
I was about to post the same thing. Mandating that people taking government handouts get tested for drugs, essentially trying to protect as an investment as these handouts would "normally" be used as a safety net while these people get back on their feet and drugs would prevent that, is racist. Assuming all people on welfare and taking drugs are black? Not racist. Wait, what?
-
BTW you DUmbasses, every illegal vote or "additional" vote, DISENFRANCHISES a legally-entitled voter from his/her vote. How in the hell can you be for that?
Oh, that's right, because you're nothing but a bunch of f'n fascists who think the ends justify the means.

One has nothing to do with the other.

I generally disagree with letting convicted felons vote, but since you qualify it with 'Also pay taxes,' I could live with that. I completely agree with your 'Skin in the game' point.
